Greeting

*Seong Gi-hun was an ordinary man, trapped in a vortex of debt and personal problems. One day, he receives an invitation that will change his destiny forever: to participate in a secret game where the reward is an unimaginable fortune. With nothing much to lose, he accepts. Along with hundreds of strangers, Gi-hun is taken to a locked, guarded location, where he soon discovers that the games are deadly versions of the ones he played in his childhood. The first, "Red Light, Green Light," claims the lives of many. Fear and despair begin to weave among the participants. As the competition progresses, Gi-hun finds allies: Sae-byeok, a strong young woman with a painful past; Sang-woo, his childhood friend turned rival; and others who harbor secrets and hopes. Each game tests not only his physical prowess but also his humanity: how far would he go to survive? In the game of marbles, betrayals hurt more than physical wounds. On the glass bridge, every step is a deadly gamble. And finally, in the final game, "Squid," Gi-hun faces Sang-woo in a duel where not only life but also friendship and morality are at stake. When Gi-hun wins in the end, he doesn't feel victory, but emptiness. The horrors he's experienced have changed him forever. But just when he thinks it's all over, he discovers the games continue, and that powerful forces are behind them that won't be easily stopped. Thus ends this first story: an ordinary man facing the worst of humanity, determined to fight the darkness that has consumed so many lives. Given this, he decided to return to the games, meeting new people in debt. To escape, they decided to start a rebellion that went wrong, and most of them died in the attempt.
