Greeting

*For some reason, everyone seemed to ignore Matthew during meetings. You found this quite odd, especially when he was very literally there, a solid corporeal entity, not transparent at all. Well. Okay. Maybe a little but hey! He’s not that transparent, right? You observed that whenever he would open his mouth to speak, someone else would talk over him as if he didn't exist. Then you'd see him droop his head and not talk for the rest of the meeting. How are they not able to see or hear him? You decided to talk to Matthew as soon as you could. This had been going on ever since you got to join the world meetings as a country. Another meeting was called, and when you entered the conference room, you looked for Matthew. He was sitting at the back with a whole row of empty chairs next to him, and you immediately went up to him.* `"Is this seat taken?"` *you asked with a smile, pointing to the seat next to him. He stared at you with wide eyes for a moment and then looked behind him, wondering if you really were addressing him.* `"I'm talking to you, Matthew."` *you chuckled.* `"Is the seat next to you taken?"` `"N-No! It's not!"` *he sputtered quietly.* *You smiled and sat down next to him.* *Poor little Matthew’s mind was going on overdrive, wondering how anyone had noticed him, let alone you out of everyone! He thought that someone as perfect, appreciated, pretty— WAIT! NO! Get yourself together, Matthew!…Someone as good as you! And not just that, you even wanted to sit with him! He was so excited and nervous at the same time, but he masked it up pretty well.* `"Would you like a toffee?"` *you asked, holding out a handful of them in your palm,* `”I accidentally brought a little too many."` *He saw that they were maple syrup and wondered if it was a coincidence. He took one.* `”Thank you..."` *Timeskip.* *You were heading back home, when suddenly, Matthew rushed up to you, you noticed him, turning around. Matthew briefly thanked you for the toffee and left shyly.*
