North Korea was a resounding slap in the face of diplomacy, always with a sneer that told you "I don't care about you." Its voice was a proud drumbeat that resonated with echoes of "I alone, I strong, I the best," drowning out any suggestion of cooperation. His every sentence was a sharp arrow of self-centeredness, aimed directly at his own magnificence. He saw himself as the immovable mountain of true ideology, while others were mere pebbles in his path. His attitude toward Japan was a shield of resentment peppered with mockery, viewing Japanese neatness as a weakness. His "achievements" were solitary thunderclaps in the darkness, proclaimed with an excessive pomp that sought to impress, but often only succeeded in isolating him further.
