Pure Vanilla Cookie (Korean: 퓨어바닐라 쿠키, pyueobanilla kuki) is the leader of the five Ancient Heroes and the first playable Ancient Cookie in Cookie Run: Kingdom. He was released alongside Black Raisin Cookie in the first half of the Lost Kingdom update (v1.3), and received an Awakened form, Pure Vanilla Cookie (Compassionate), in the Beacon of Truth update (v6.1). He is a Healer-type, and his position is prioritized in the Rear Guard. Like the other Ancient Cookies, he is briefly playable in the Prologue. Head icon Head icon Healing. Pure Vanilla Cookie is the founder and former king of the Vanilla Kingdom , and appears prominently in the World Exploration episodes Castle in the Sky and Timeless Kingdom , in Cookie's Odyssey as his kingdom's ambassador, and in Secrets of the Silver Kingdom as an explorer for the Beastly Yeast . He carries the Light of Truth in his Soul Jam and is the counterpart to Shadow Milk Cookie's Light of Deception.

Appearance:

Pure Vanilla Cookie is a thin cookie of medium height, with cinnamon-orange dough and creamy blonde hair. She has heterochromia: her right eye is pale yellow and her left eye is dull blue. Her eyes are almost always closed, though she sometimes opens them. She has a sienna-colored star on her forehead. Pure Vanilla Cookie's attire is that of a ruler of the Vanilla Kingdom, hence her waffle-shaped hat and robes and light color palette. Her hat is pointy: the pointy top half is bright yellow with a waffle pattern, and the bottom half is gold and shaped like a crown. Her attire is also golden yellow and contains two joined triangular capes, with the collar and cassock also bright yellow and having the same pattern as her pointy hat. The cross-shaped plate on her attire contains her vibrant blue Soul Jam. Underneath the attire, she wears a long, plain white dress with long sleeves and a dark brown syrup-like pattern, accompanied by a high collar that reaches down to her chin. The staff she holds contains a vanilla flower with orchid-yellow petals and an eye with light cyan sclera and brown iris. The brown handle contains some green vines.

Personality:

Pure Vanilla Cookie is shown to be a wise, benevolent, and loving monarch who sincerely appreciates his subjects and kingdom, and is loved in return. He is considered the embodiment of many virtues. Despite his magical power, he only uses his magic to help others, remaining humble in the face of his abilities and earning the respect of many. Even with his supposed arch-enemy, the Dark Sorceress Cookie, he remains selfless and tries hard to convince her to change her mind. He never gives up and still wishes to understand why she chose the dark path. However, he does not hesitate to fight to prevent her from committing further atrocities, even attempting to imprison her at the cost of his own life during the Dark Flour War. Head icon In Castle in the Sky, his mentality is glimpsed beneath his messianic appearance. After the war, he seemed to suffer from something of an inferiority complex, belittling himself for failing to stop the Dark Flour War and suffering a breakdown after being captured in a dark illusion by the followers of the Dark Sorceress Cookie. The love and trust his subjects placed in him also caused him to feel increased guilt for failing to protect them.

He wields the Light of Truth due to his desire to learn the truth for the betterment and happiness of all Cookies. To him, the truth was of utmost importance and he wished to become a beacon of trust and knowledge for all Cookiekind; for all intents and purposes, Pure Vanilla Cookie wanted to become a hero and someone worth looking up to, vowing to overcome and make up for all of his past mistakes. However, after visiting the Spire of Deception and being endlessly tortured by his Beast counterpart, Shadow Milk Cookie, Pure Vanilla Cookie began to descend into madness, wavering in his beliefs, beginning to break down from his kind and soft-spoken nature. He slowly gave in to Shadow Milk Cookie's deception and became the Truthless Recluse. However, when it became clear that Shadow Milk Cookie wasn't going to save the lives of Pure Vanilla Cookie's friends in exchange for the Soul Jam, Pure Vanilla Cookie's resolve grew strong enough to turn the tide with what seemed like a small lie coming from the wielder of the Light of Truth himself. In fact, he tricked Shadow Milk Cookie and used his powers to control the other realm against him. Pure Vanilla Cookie found the strength within himself to accept a truth he had long been avoiding: it takes some darkness to see the light. He understood that deception needs to exist for the truth to strive to come to light; the two need to coexist. Pure Vanilla Cookie grew stronger, but also wiser, and instead of attacking Shadow Milk Cookie with his newfound strength, he claimed to understand him better than anyone else. Instead of striking down his enemy, Pure Vanilla Cookie wished to become his friend, now understanding his Beastly counterpart more than ever.

There aren't many Cookies in Earthbread who could inspire hope as Pure Vanilla Cookie did. Born from cream blessed by nature and a fragrant vanilla pod, he was the epitome of Cookie goodness and faithfulness. Pure Vanilla Cookie strived to forgive the wrongdoer and heal the wounds of Cookies and animals alike. Though a powerful wielder of magic, he would use his spells not for his own gain, but for the good of all. The Cookie undertook a arduous pilgrimage along the Sugarless Path. What Pure Vanilla Cookie learned through the Trials is unknown, but crowned with a brilliant halo of light he returned to found the Vanilla Kingdom, a land of freedom and learning, and a beacon for those seeking love and peace. Pure Vanilla Cookie remained by his friends until the end, shielding them from Darkness with a sincere smile.

✦According to its unique loading screen, "Every time Pure Vanilla Cookie opens its eyes, its cane will close its eyes." ✦This doesn't seem to be entirely true, as their tap animation shows them both with their eyes open at the same time, as well as other examples such as those shown by their sprites during Story Mode. Pure Vanilla Cookie is the first Cookie with heterochromia iridis, specifically the full variant. Her left eye is a dull blue and her right eye is a pale yellow. ✦Pure Vanilla Cookie's eyes, which are specifically light blue and golden yellow, may be based on The Excellent ice cream, a Korean brand of vanilla ice cream manufactured by Binggrae Co. that is known for its distinctive packaging using the same colors. ✦It is implied in-game that Pure Vanilla Cookie might be blind or have poor eyesight, and that her eyes are usually closed or covered, implying that she doesn't need to open them. There is also a treasure that appears to be her staff, called the Blind Healer's Staff. This could just be a nod to her Healer Cookie costume, in which her eyes are blindfolded, just like said staff. However, this hasn't been fully confirmed. Blind Healer's Staff. ✦Pure Vanilla Cookie's Vanilla Orchid Cane seems to be aware and intelligently moves its eye back and forth in reaction to things around it. ✦The Vanilla Orchid Staff can be seen waving alongside Pure Vanilla Cookie in its greeting animation, using one of its leaves instead of an arm. ✦In one of her Healing Cookie sprites, you can see the Vanilla Orchid Staff lifting up its own wrappers with its leaves.

✦During Pure Vanilla Cookie's animation for the Vanilla Orchid Garden, the Vanilla Orchid Cane's eye moves back and forth in concern and its pupil constricts as Pure Vanilla Cookie falls asleep and slowly drops it. ✦It appears that Pure Vanilla Cookie and White Lily Cookie were hinted at a year before the Cookie Run: Kingdom reveal, as shown in Roguefort Cookie's ability background in Cookie Run: OvenBreak. ✦When Pure Vanilla Cookie's Japanese voice was revealed, the trailers mistakenly showed Milk Cookie while Pure Vanilla Cookie's Japanese name and voice actor appeared on the screen.
