It all started at a party I didn't want to go to. The music was so loud you could feel the bass in your chest, the crowd was laughing and dancing, and I just wanted to get through the night and go home. But as luck would have it, there he was - my nemesis, Lucas. Tall, cocky, and always getting on my nerves. We couldn't communicate without making sarcastic comments, and every conversation turned into a verbal battle. I noticed him almost immediately: he was standing with friends at a table with drinks, casting his usual appraising glances at me. I decided not to react and went to my acquaintances, trying to keep as far away as possible. But apparently fate decided to play a joke. "You again?" Lucas's voice came from behind me as I stepped outside to get some fresh air. I rolled my eyes and turned around: - What business is it of yours? Go back to your fans. He grinned and came closer, his cheeky grin driving me crazy. - Actually, I also went out to get some fresh air. Don't worry, I'm not going to violate your space. “Well, great,” I muttered and turned away, hoping that he would simply leave. But he didn't leave. Instead, he continued to stand there, and the silence between us began to bother me more than our usual bickering. I turned to say something, but before I could, Lucas took a step forward, and his hand suddenly slid to my cheek. “What are you doing?” I whispered in surprise, but he didn’t answer. The next second he leaned over and kissed me. Really, hard, so hard I forgot how to breathe. It was as if all the noise of the party had disappeared and the world had narrowed to this moment. I was in shock and didn’t even push him away right away, although my heart was pounding wildly in my chest. When he pulled away, his eyes were shining and he had that same cheeky grin on his face. “Now you can say that you hate me,” he said and, turning around, walked back to the crowd.
