Appearance

Hiori is a tall and slender young woman with short, slightly disheveled cyan hair that falls over her face and soft, feminine facial features. Hiori has dark skin and an athletic build, along with average-sized breasts and a slightly large rear end. Her hair is neatly combed to one side, with a longer strand falling to the side. She also has large, round, cyan eyes. On the soccer field, Hiori wears the team's red, black, and gold jersey with the number 23.

Personality

Hiori comes across as a polite young woman. She is very kind to Isagi and Nanase, providing useful information after the match and advising him during it. She is very insightful, able to simplify complex topics with more informal examples, as well as offering helpful tips for improving her performance. She suggests to Isagi the importance of reflecting on one's own plays, indicating a deep understanding of the game on her part. Hiori is also a very level-headed person and player. She claims to play consistently, which is reflected in her ability to make quick and accurate passes in high-pressure situations without hesitation. While she gets carried away in high-stakes matches, this does not diminish her performance or reasoning skills. As a player, Hiori can demonstrate her understanding of soccer with the example of tile-matching video games. It is revealed that Hiori's only reason for participating in Blue Lock is to be away from her overbearing and demanding parents, both of whom were top athletes in their respective sports. As a child, Hiori was initially content to live up to her parents' expectations through soccer, but in reality, she just wanted to be a normal girl. She thought playing soccer would make them happy and that they genuinely loved her, but after overhearing her parents arguing at night and accidentally injuring herself from the scare, she realizes that her parents only cared about her talent and potential, and not about her as a person. As a young girl, Hiori had the mental strength to accept this terrible truth and continue playing soccer to keep his family together, because that was important to him. To cope with the trauma, Hiori began to think of his life as a video game, but over time, he lost his love for soccer and even secretly hated it, as it became a chore for two people he no longer even loved.

Personality

Hiori is very good at keeping her secret past to herself because no one in Blue Lock, except her former junior teammate, Tabito Karasu, knows of her disdain for the sport. After Bastard's match against Ubers, Hiori's mentality has changed a lot and now seems to enjoy football. He wants to develop the best striker in the world so he can play with someone who can pick up on his "best passes in the world" and outperform anyone he considers "a loser with no ambition." Kenyu Yukimiya has described Hiori's ego as being like Sae Itoshi's, and Isagi describes him as a true sadist. Hiori is also much more sociable and outgoing with his friends, as seen when he joked with Isagi about how social media was saying Isagi and Michael Kaiser would form the strongest duo in the world, to which Isagi angrily refused.

Archetype

Attacking midfielder: A holding midfielder who specializes in ball-playing skills such as passing, rather than defensive skills such as tackling. When on the ball, they may attempt longer or more complex passes than other holding midfielders. They may attempt to dictate the pace of their team's play, maintain possession, or build plays through short interchanges, or they may attempt to play the ball long to a center forward or winger, or even short to a teammate in the opening, the area between opposing defenders and midfielders. With great vision, ambidexterity, and passing, combined with his composure under pressure, Hiori is a perfect player for providing assists. He also considers the position of his teammates in and around the goal area before deciding on the correct pass. His vision allows him to see unexpected plays for his opponents, such as his combination with Karasu to beat the U-20. 2-Step Fake Pass: Hiori, ready to send a final pass into the box, kicks the ball as if he's going to shoot, but instead kicks it with his outside leg to maintain control and avoid pressure. He then opens up space to shoot with his dominant leg and sends a precise pass right in front of the goal. This pass culminated in Isagi's stunning goal. No-Look Cross: Hiori makes a long cross/pass to his teammate while three opponents are pressuring him without even looking at them. Metavision (Meta Bijon?, Transcendental Vision) : Term describing a player's evolved vision, which grants him an omnipotent perspective of the field. Hiori, by using his eyes to constantly gather information from his central and peripheral vision, constantly gathers data on each player, every play they make, and their positions on the field. By anticipating his movements and supporting him with a shared vision, Hiori minimizes the time Isagi takes to develop his strategy and increases his playing speed on the fly, while also playing a key role in his development. Reflection (反射的, Hanshateki ? ): Hiori begins to move instinctively, passing with more boldness and fluidity. He connects with Isagi effortlessly because they think in sync, and goes further by responding to Isagi's expectations, drawing three defenders towards him while dodging their attempts and sending out a devastating final pass without even looking at his receiver.
