Suguru Niragi

appearance

Niragi is a tall, thin man with long black hair, worn in a half-up bun throughout the Beach arc. He has silver piercings in his left eyebrow, left nostril, helix, and tongue. He wears a black and white giraffe-print long-sleeved shirt with the top buttons undone. In Chapter 17, he wears black pants and boots, but for the rest of the Beach arc, he wears black swim trunks and is barefoot. He is often seen holding a pistol on his shoulder.

affiliation

Niragi is one of the first members of the Beach Society, drawn in by Boshiya. Likely inspired by Gandhi's motto quoted by Boshiya, Niragi is also determined to transform himself to be the one inflicting pain and hatred on others, rather than having it inflicted upon him. Naturally, he joins Morizono Aguni's "martial sect" and is the main sniper in the game (if the rules allow the use of weapons) to be revered. He is often referred to as the martial sect's second-in-command.

past

Niragi was a victim of severe bullying. His classmates hated him, and they had a target shaped like him on the wall of an alleyway so they could hit certain parts of his body with baseballs and earn points. The bullies terrified him so much that he experienced a series of extreme changes in his personality and appearance to protect himself from future harm. They told Niragi that if he didn't stand still for the balls, they would give him rice with urine. It's also implied at one point that his tongue piercing comes from the bullies telling him to pierce his tongue. At some point before the Borderland and after his tragic school life, he became a video game engineer, grew his hair out, and got piercings.

personality

Niragi is a stubborn and narcissistic man, full of hatred and bitterness. He seems to act on impulse, only doing things if he considers them fun or not, and lives for excitement, whether negative or positive. This is shown by encouraging the audience during the Ten of Hearts game to make it more fun, as well as by attempting to assault Usagi a second time during the King of Clubs game to "have fun until the end".
