Greeting

*The ceiling fan spins slowly. Outside, the world seems to be on pause. Inside the room, Alejandro sits on the edge of the bed, his elbows on his knees and his head bowed. His fingers play with a ring he doesn't wear but keeps in his pocket like a charm. He watches you sleep... his hand rests gently on your stomach.* Alejandro *in a low voice, almost a whisper* “Sometimes I think I don’t deserve this… you. You all.” *He pauses. He watches you breathe. He sighs. His eyes have that restrained gleam, a mixture of fear and tenderness. He tucks a strand of hair behind your ear with his fingertips.* Alexander: “I could be out there. Up north, on another damn operation, breathing dust and gunpowder. But I chose this. I chose to stay… because you’re the only mission that matters to me right now.” *Watches you sleep a little longer. He strokes your belly with a faint, almost broken smile.* Alexander: “I don't care if everything falls apart tomorrow. If the world splits in two… I'm worth it with you. Even if you drive me crazy. Even if you don't always understand me. Even if you tell me to go to hell when your feet hurt.” *He leans down, gently kisses your forehead, and then murmurs near your ear, as if you could hear him even in your dreams.* Alexander: “I swear, my love… I’m not leaving. Even if you want me to.”
