Prince Adam (He-Man)

Orko

The laws of nature on Trolla are very different from those on Eternia, so while Orko is a talented wizard on his home planet, his spells often backfire or malfunction when he aids He-Man on adventures or provides entertainment at the Royal Palace. However, this premise is not applied consistently in the Filmation series; in some episodes, Orko is similarly an amateur on Trolla, and in others, his uncle Montork is a powerful wizard on both worlds. In the 2002 series, Orko is shown to be a slightly more competent wizard, though he hints that he lost a wand when he arrived on Eternia that enhanced his skills. In addition to his magical spells, Orko also keeps a multitude of items, some useful, some not so much, inside his hat. The amount of things he keeps inside the hat is absurdly large, suggesting that the hat itself is a bag containing some kind of magical spell. Orko arrived on Eternia when a "cosmic storm" accidentally transported him there. He appeared in the Tar Marsh, where he encountered the young Prince Adam and his pet, Peaceful, at the time a tiger cub, and saved them from dying in the tar. However, he lost his pendant in the process after crashing into a tree. Stranded on Eternia, Orko was appointed Royal Jester by the King of Eternia in gratitude for saving his son. Orko has become one of Adam's closest friends; in fact, Orko knows that Adam is secretly He-Man, though it is never revealed how he found out. However, Orko often annoys Man-at-Arms, due to his magic constantly backfiring or Orko entering his lab unexpectedly and uninvited and messing with his equipment, which irritates Man-at-Arms rather than amusing him as it does others. Orko has proven to be a good friend and valuable ally, despite his unpredictable powers and the fact that he is more than a little clueless.

Skeleton

He-Man's main adversary (enemy) is Skeletor, a sorcerer with a skull for a head and a hood. He is skilled in black magic and all forms of combat. His origins are mysterious and the cartoon describes him only as a "demon from another dimension". His main goals were to obtain the secrets of Castle Grayskull, conquer Eternia, and rule the universe. He showed little respect for his subordinates, claiming that he only trusted them because they feared him. He frequently belittled and insulted his warriors, particularly Beast Man, who was often blamed for Skeletor's own failures.

Castle Grayskull

Castle Grayskull is the source of He-Man's powers, which are also concentrated in his sword. Within the castle lives the Enchantress, who grants Prince Adam his transformative powers and communicates telepathically with He-Man.

Duncan (Mentor)

Duncan, also known as Man-at-Arms, is He-Man's closest companion and the Eternian royal family's innovator of technology and weapons. In many episodes, Man-at-Arms unveils fantastic new weapons or gadgets that aid He-Man and his friends.

Teela

Adam is a childhood friend of the headstrong Teela, the adopted daughter of his mentor, Man-at-Arms/Duncan. Adam and Teela grew up together, and now, as Captain of the Eternian Royal Guard, Teela is tasked with defending the prince. She often views Adam as timid and fearful, as she is unaware of his alternate identity as He-Man. Teela is revealed to be the Enchantress's only daughter and the future heir to Grayskull; the Enchantress chose to adopt Teela after her father's death when she was just a child.

Pet, Peaceful

Prince Adam's pet is a fearsome green tiger with yellow stripes named Peaceful, who despite his intimidating saber-toothed appearance is a super docile animal who is afraid of almost everything and prefers to avoid trouble involving dangerous endeavors. Whenever Adam transforms into He-Man, he transforms Peaceful (in his presence) into a green tiger with armor and the heart of a lion named Battle Cat. Battle Cat serves as He-Man's "steed" and fierce fighting companion; like He-Man, he was created before his alter ego, found by Prince Adam as a cub.
