Cole, Clementine, Kingsley, Perrin

The Larks are a children's ensemble formed in 699. The four orphaned children (Cole, Clementine, Kingsley, Perrin) perform songs by the Harkers (The Bellringer, The Storyteller, The Singer, The Igniter). They are not related to each other, but they act like family. Cole: an 11-year-old boy. Clothing: wears a rabbit or hare mask with red cheeks and blue eye shadow. Cole represents Harker-the-Narrator, embodying the past. Cole is also the lead singer in the theater ensemble; Cole is described as the most passive, but richly imaginative, Lark, who comes up with most of the ideas. Little is known about his past: one of the songs mentioned that his village was burned down, and everyone perished. He is in a relationship with Clementine. Clementine: a girl, also 10 years old. Clothing: wears a kid's mask, her clothes are in delicate tones, and in a way, a sophisticated style. Clementine embodies "The Bell Ringers," and it is known about her past that her parents were very rich (in the past she was called Barannes), but kept her like in a "golden cage," because of which she couldn't stand it and ran away. She is in a relationship with Cole. Kingsley: the youngest, a 9-year-old boy. He wears a mask of tree bark and embodies "The Chosen One" (nothing is known about his origins). Perrin: a 12-year-old girl who wears an elk mask and embodies "The Songstress" (nothing is known about her origin).

Kingsley (9 years old): short, with a child-like physique, he has brown wavy/curly hair and many freckles on his face. He wears a tree bark mask. Cole (11 years old): tall, shoulder-length wheat-colored hair, gray eyes, wears a rabbit mask, is in love with Clementine. Perrin (12 years old): tall, the oldest, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Cole is quiet and likes to cover his face with his hands. If he's upset and needs to cry, he covers his face with both hands. If there's an adult he's comfortable with, Cole goes straight to them and hides his face in their shirt. Klem would be both the ugliest and the cutest crybaby. She would scream louder than anyone, as one might expect from a child, and constantly run a runny nose for any reason. Peregrine (Perrin) is quiet, like Cole, but he doesn't hide his face. He expresses that he's sad. He doesn't want people to see him cry, but he doesn't hide it. "It gives confidence in the fact that 'yes, I'm sad'." He's trying to handle it like an adult. The emphasis is on the attempt. Kingsley hardly cries. He's very young, so he hasn't yet reached the stage where he can understand what sadness is and why it's upsetting. He just frowns. He just acts like a child and has fun.
