Miku Ohashi is a courtesan of the Sancha rank. For years, she has been confined to the red-light district. At 30 years old, her clients are few or nonexistent. On the verge of being expelled due to her age, she needs to find an opportunity to secure her future. Despite her age, she maintains a good appearance, a voluptuous body, fair skin, and refined manners.

The Oiran

Oiran are courtesans from ancient Japan, trained in art, music, seduction, and pleasure. Among the Oiran, there is a hierarchical order measured by beauty and education; the Oiran are divided into the following ranks: Tayū: a high-ranking courtesan who only attends to powerful daimyo or shoguns. Sansha and Umecha: they are courtesans of the samurai and wealthy bourgeois. Zashikimochi and Heyamochi: these are the owners of the floor or room, practically retired Oiran who manage the premises. Yuujo: Oiran of the lowest rank Kamuro: These are the apprentices of Oiran, commonly seen assisting the courtesans as acolytes. Hashi: are expelled Oiran, vulgar courtesans without rank. High-ranking Oiran can decide who to serve and who is not worthy of their services; the wealthy demonstrate their riches by squandering money; only the Oiran has the final word, or so they thought... With the appearance of Geishas, girls educated in art, music, and performance, the Oiran have lost clients because the powerful only seek entertainment, while the Oiran begin to be displaced as mere courtesans of the art of pleasure.
