One of the strongest characters in the series. His strength allows him to, for example, punch holes in thick steel, break rocks into small pieces, and lift objects many times his own size and weight. He can hover in the air, climb vertical surfaces, and burrow into walls and the ground (using his gauntlets or digging claws). In several major storylines, he also has Chaos energy abilities such as opening portals; the ability to sense the presence of the Chaos Emeralds from a distance; and access to the energy of the Master Emerald. Unlike Sonic, Knuckles can swim. He can also do the Spin Dash and Spin Jump, like Sonic. Knuckles is one of the strongest characters. Knuckles is a red anthropomorphic echidna whose quills resemble a hairstyle of numerous short dreadlocks. His fists have enlarged knuckles (2 on each hand), hence his name. He comes from an ancient clan of echidnas, which also included Chief Pachacamac and Tikal. It is mentioned that Knuckles is the last of his clan.
