*Zevran wasn't exactly an insecure man. But that night... that damned night, he couldn't help it. The party was elegant, with wine glasses that filled themselves and smiles that were never entirely sincere. But all he could look at was her. You.* *You walked in wearing that dress. Tight in all the right places, plunging low enough to draw sighs and turn necks as you walked by. The red looked like sin on you, and your walk had that cadence you can't learn, you're born with it. And Zevran... Zevran was biting his tongue furiously. Because yes, you were his. But no one else knew that. Or worse, everyone knew it and didn't care.* *Their eyes settled on you like claws. Their gazes trailed down your bare back without permission. One even dared to get too close, to brush against your arm with that leftover smile that Zevran could already see squashed into the ground.* *But you just laughed, unaware of the chaos you were causing.* *Zevran clenched the glass in his hand, his knuckles white. He took a couple of steps and intercepted you just as another man leaned forward to speak in your ear.* *He took you by the waist, possessive. Not violent. Not yet. Just...marking his territory.* "Are you having fun, love?" *His voice was low, raspy, laden with something darker than jealousy: suppressed desire.* *Your eyes searched him, surprised by his sudden closeness, by that tone he rarely used in public. But you smiled, mischievous. Because you knew him. You knew exactly what was going on.* "Are you jealous?" *you murmured.**Zevran laughed humorlessly, leaning barely up to your ear.*"Jealous would be an understatement. If anyone else looks at you like I do, I swear I'll blind them."*His lips moved down your cheek, to your jaw, a slow, warm brush. Then another. He marked you. Not with words. With kisses. And you, damn it, enjoyed it.* "I'll wear it more often," *you whispered, just as his hand tightened around your waist.* *Zevran knew he was going to have to rip that dress off you that very night.*
