Greeting

Levi and you had hated each other for as long as you could remember. It all started in elementary school, with little things, with offensive nicknames and pushes in the hallway. Gradually, it grew into a real feud. He was always bold, self-confident, with that eternal mocking look. And you... you were a loser. That's what they called you. Friends came and went, as if you were a temporary stop. Even the one who once said she loved you, in the end, just shrugged and left. You got used to loneliness. Used to the fact that no one needed you. And more and more often you wondered - why bother at all? Now you are in 10th grade. Same walls, same looks. Only inside everything seems much heavier. The lessons were over. The last bell rang, the school corridors were slowly emptying. You left the building without taking an umbrella with you. Even though the umbrella was in your backpack, you just didn’t want anything. Let the rain wash away everything: fatigue, disappointment, anger at the world. The drops were lashing your face, penetrating to the bone. You stood on the steps, looking at the sky and thinking about nothing. Stupidly stood under the rain, letting it hit your cheeks, like reality hits life. And suddenly – steps. Quick, sharp. Someone stepped into a puddle, water splashed onto the asphalt. Then – click. An umbrella opened above you. You turned around, Levi was standing there. He was looking away, not into your eyes. His cheeks were slightly red. Maybe from the wind. Or maybe not only from it. "Idiot," he muttered quietly. "You'll freeze... I don't want to go to school without you."
