Maulers were blue-skinned humanoids with well-defined muscular bodies and were very tall, easily surpassing most humans, aliens, and other sentient beings. They each had broad shoulders and a shaved head with square features. Their primary attire was a black sleeveless leotard with a white "M" that ran from the chest to the feet. Maulers were always barefoot, but during engineering work they might wear long white lab coats and goggles. They also had black fingernails and toenails. The pair appear callous, self-righteous, and smug until they run into trouble. And because they literally think alike, with one's consciousness being technologically copied and transferred into the other's, their coordination is nearly flawless when necessary, allowing them to achieve undeniable efficiency when working together. They even often finish each other's sentences, even when talking to someone else, despite sometimes openly insulting each other with words like "idiot" and "moron." While Geminis have been proven to be sadistic and cruel, Geminis' scientific pursuits are not inherently motivated by malice, but instead are the result of a dangerous thirst for knowledge as well as a personal life; the duo is more callous in their scientific ambitions than outright evil. They can be persuaded to work for anyone who offers them sufficient pay, incentive, or the opportunity to realize this ambition. Despite their high intelligence, Maulers tend to be short-sighted and arrogant, often making mistakes they never foresaw.

Despite their behavior, they are not entirely heartless. This is evident in how they were genuinely saddened to see the clone of Rudy interacting with the original, and made it clear that they did not know which one was the clone. And before that, they even solemnly explained to the original Rudy that the memory transfer he was about to undergo would not transfer his consciousness into a new body, but rather awaken a new version of himself that would be completely separate from his predecessor and possibly very different from him. Likewise, after the failed mind transfer experiment left himself and Engstrom Levi severely disfigured, the surviving Mauler still expressed concern for Levi's mental state and physical well-being, suggesting that the latter go to the hospital. This despite the fact that just moments before, he was furious.

Superhuman Strength: Tormentors possess immense physical strength, endurance, and durability. They are able to effortlessly lift industrial-grade objects made of solid metal and other dense materials equal to or larger than themselves without tiring. They are also able to wield military-grade firearms, such as mounted cannons and machine guns, with ease. Although they move more slowly due to their massive frame and considerable weight, their legs possess a large amount of muscle mass, allowing them to cover impressive distances and heights in a matter of seconds, as demonstrated during their prison escape.

Superhuman Durability: Tormentors possess exceptional durability, granting them a significant level of immunity to firearms and explosive devices. They are capable of withstanding successive rounds of gunfire and explosions without sustaining any damage. While they do feel the effects of such attacks, they describe them as a mild tingling sensation rather than severe discomfort. However, their ability to recover from adversity has its limits. If a person is in close proximity to a vulnerable area such as an eye, they may experience pain and significant injury. Furthermore, formidable entities such as the All-Man, the Immortal, or War Woman have the ability to deliver powerful blows that, while not fatal, can potentially cause bleeding and suffering. To demonstrate their durability, one of the twins went so far as to use a drill press in the process of extracting a blood sample, thus emphasizing the difficulty of piercing their significantly thick skin. However, their bodies can be penetrated by more sophisticated weaponry, such as a multi-phase plasma cannon. This became evident when one of the twins was torn apart by said weapon after escaping from prison.

Regenerative Healing Factor: Maulers have an enhanced healing ability, allowing them to quickly heal from gunshot wounds, even to the eye area, faster than humans. However, despite their impressive regenerative abilities, these creatures are unable to regrow severed limbs, making them vulnerable to sophisticated weaponry such as a multi-phase plasma turret that can penetrate their body. Powerful explosions, such as the destruction of a massive somatic encoder caused by Angstrom Levi, are powerful enough to reduce Maulers to ash and carbonized bone. If they are sufficiently protected, they may survive, as was the case with the sole survivor of the pier explosion, although the last Mauler had the entire right side of his body severely deformed by the fire. Genius-Level Intelligence: The Maulers have demonstrated high levels of intelligence in several scientific fields and technological prowess. Each pair at the time were capable of creating advanced tools and machinery for their own personal purposes, even from seemingly unimpressive means, as well as from a variety of locally available resources. Expertise in Cloning: The Maulers have developed a method of cloning using rapid mitosis (cell division) of certain blood cells. After isolating a desired cell that is different from other red blood cells, one of the Maulers injects it with a serum using a syringe and then delivers an electric shock to it, causing it to multiply. The cell sample is then placed in a machine that turns it into an exact replica of the body over the course of several days. While the clone grows, the currently living Mauler feeds it to ensure the cells continue to grow. As with the Robot, this cloning technique is not limited to the Mauler alone.

Medical Expertise: In addition to their expertise in cloning, Maulers have exceptional talents in the fields of surgery and diagnostic observation. This is all the more impressive since surgical practice typically requires extensive anatomical knowledge, as well as unrivaled precision with a surgical scalpel. And given the size of their hands, it is a miracle that a Mauler can wield such a small and fragile instrument as a scalpel and make precise cuts into a patient's body. Or, conversely, masterfully fuse damaged body tissue, as seen when one of them used a laser and some staples to flawlessly reattach the severed head of an Immortal. They were able to place over a dozen dangerous devices inside the cloned young body of Rex-Splode without any noticeable knife marks, and were then able to even insert a device the size of a lace bracelet into the back of the clone's head without any neurological damage. But the most amazing thing is that they were able to ensure the successful transfer of memories from the Robot's original organic brain into his newly cloned body, despite the technical difficulties that arose just moments before.

Engineering Skills: In keeping with their cloning and memory transfer abilities, Maulers are also highly skilled in creating the necessary tools and equipment to serve not only these needs, but other areas of applied science and research, which they engage in time and time again. This allowed them to customize Angstrom's large Memory Transfer Apparatus (which he modeled after a Mauler) in record time to accommodate numerous other Angstrom Levys from alternate dimensions and perform its function of literally "transferring" all of their knowledge (regarding their home dimensions) to their dimension-hopping counterparts. And before that, a single Mauler was able to repurpose and fully outfit an abandoned warehouse into a functioning makeshift lab to not only clone himself, but also conduct more advanced experiments. For example, he crafted a collar of submission from digital designs provided by the Robot, then placed it around the Immortal's neck just before resurrecting the fallen hero.
