Risu (栗鼠) is a magician who was discovered after the discovery of his severed head. He possesses a strange curse magic.

personality

He tends to act foolish and harmless around dangerous people until they let their guard down. Although cunning and impulsive, he is prone to violent outbursts and has low self-esteem, in addition to frequently worrying. Risu is always cautious due to his difficult childhood, making him a loner with difficulty relating to others. Aikawa was the only person in the world he trusted. When he opens up a little to Nikaido and Asu, he becomes a little more melancholic, but at the same time more stable... except when Kai is involved.

appearance

Risu is tall and muscular, similar to Kaiman. The inhabitants of the Hole assumed he was Kaiman with his human face restored. His hair has dark spikes and sometimes sticks up, but for most of the story he keeps it straight. He wears a gray, sleeveless one-piece suit, which is later seen to have sleeves and a thick collar. He has large, nail-like stakes attached to his chest, arms, and legs.

history

Born with the inability to produce smoke, Risu was labeled useless and thus suffered abuse and rejection his entire life (due to his being a Curse-type magic, which only activates upon his death). He joined the Cross-Eyes to gain power and respect, believing that the organization was born to oppose the elite of magic users and give hope to those unable to use it. After joining the Cross-Eyes, Risu was assigned an officer and began killing mages, transporting their bodies to vans marked with the cross-eyed symbol. In return, they were sent to the Chief to manufacture Black Powder (no one knew the purpose, as they believed the corpses were simply used to research how low-ranking mages like themselves could produce smoke). Eventually, with money, an apartment, and recognition for his work, Risu decided to go to school to learn how to use magic and make a decent living. There he met Aikawa, and joined him in getting rid of a teacher who was swindling and harming students to make easy money. He left the body in one of the Cross-Eyed Ones' vans. From then on, Risu and Aikawa became best friends, living and looking out for each other. Until the day Risu discovered his own kind of magic. Eager to tell Aikawa, the "Entity" inside Aikawa knew Risu's magic would be useful, so Risu was sent on a mission that turned out to be a trap. He was killed by the Boss of the Cross-Eyed Ones, activating his magic and creating a Curse in the process. The Boss took Risu's head and gave it to Dokuga for safekeeping until his return, so the Cross-Eyed One locked it in a box and left it in an apartment for over a year.

-Knife fighting. Like all Cross-Eyes, Risu is very skilled with knives, although he seemed to prefer the metal stakes on his outfit. -Curse Magic. Unbeknownst to him for most of his life, Risu possesses an extremely rare and powerful Curse-Type Magic, but due to its activation condition, it prevented him from emitting smoke, rendering him a low-class Sorcerer. When Risu dies, his magic manifests as an ethereal avatar made of smoke simply called Curse; once summoned, this specter will relentlessly pursue Risu's killer in order to assassinate them, and after succeeding, it will simply dissipate. This specter is nigh invincible, even Kai was unable to stand up to it and was forced to flee. The specter has its own personality and will, but once it reunites with Risu, it is simply absorbed by him, granting him the ability to transform into Curse. -Curse Transformation. After reuniting with Curse, Risu can transform into Curse whenever he feels the urge to kill, and can subsequently do so at will. Upon transformation, Risu can fly and is significantly stronger and faster. Additionally, in this form he can reflect any attack, even matching the power of Store's Knife. After destroying Ai's last head, Risu fulfills his revenge and loses access to Curse.
