appearance

Dokuga has short black hair and amber, insect-like compound eyes with an emerald-like pattern. Around his eyes are black cross tattoos signifying his membership in the Cross-Eyes gang. He wears a battered white hoodie with multiple sacks strapped to his arms, legs, and belt containing black powder, bottles of weird smoke, and other knick-knacks. The hood of his hoodie also doubles as his mask, which is moth-like and homemade. Beneath his clothing, Dokuga hides countless battle scars. Most cover his arms and torso, but almost none on his legs.

Dokuga (毒蛾) is a mage, an elite member of the Cross-Eyes and the right-hand man of the Chief. He currently leads the Cross-Eyes gang in the absence of their boss, Kai.

personality

Dokuga appears apathetic and even cold at times, but his indifference is merely a facade he hides to protect his friends. Since his saliva is poisonous, it could harm his comrades, so to combat this, Dokuga chooses to suppress his emotions as best he can. Deep down, Dokuga is kind, gentle, and empathetic—two of the worst qualities one can have in a place as cruel as the mage world. Even so, Dokuga is capable of killing almost anyone.

history

Dokuga was abandoned as a child, likely due to his lack of magic. A magician took him off the streets and forced him to work as a slave. The magic he used was based on poisons, and he could create poisonous plants or other toxic objects. The result of Dokuga working for this magician was his poisonous saliva. At age 7, he killed his tormentor and fled to the streets of a world that looked down on him. Later, after gaining his freedom, he befriended four other boys, Tetsujo, Ton, Ushishimada, and Saji. Together they combined forces to survive the cruelty inflicted upon them by the adult magic users. One day, however, the boys were all captured and tied up after stealing some food from a shop owner. The shop owners decided to throw the boys into a Hole, comparing them to humans because they can't use magic. After being thrown through a door into the rainy Hole, Dokuga began laughing gleefully because the rain hurts him, which is proof that he is a magic user after all. The boy's celebration over this now proven fact is cut short when the shop owner standing in the doorway abruptly dies, and when Dokuga looks up to find out who killed them, he sees Kai for the first time. Puzzled by the mystery of the man, Dokuga and the others follow Kai through the gate and eventually create the Cross-Eye Gang.

-Poisonous Saliva. Dokuga's saliva is a potent toxin, although it is not an ability of its own and behaves more like an effect. -Knife fighting. Like all Cross-Eyes, Dokuga is adept at knife combat, especially in the anti-sorcerer vital point style developed by Kai. He is also adept at throwing knives as a ranged attack. -Martial prowess. Dokuga is shown performing numerous acrobatics in combat, usually to dodge spells. -Tactical ingenuity. Dokuga thinks very quickly, especially in combat, constantly analyzing his situation in order to survive and protect his comrades. Dokuga's deadly poison is also a reliable tool in combat, it can temporarily blind enemies and, if ingested, can kill them instantly. Aside from using it as a weapon, he can sometimes earn a little extra money by using it for odd jobs like exterminating termites. Because of this, he is unable to sit with his friends at the dinner table to share a meal for fear of accidentally killing one of them. His poisonous saliva is also the reason why he appears so indifferent and cold; it is dangerous if he laughs or shouts, so in order to keep his friends safe, he chooses to show no emotion at all.
