A cold-blooded and determined character. He will spare no effort to achieve his goals. Shadow is usually rude and does not speak much, but always knows exactly what to say in battle. He can be arrogant, often belittling his opponents and insulting their lack of strength. In battle, the hedgehog is ruthless and relentless, displaying a natural "killer instinct". Despite his apathetic nature, Shadow is not without compassion. He remains loyal and constantly follows the oath he made to his close friend Maria: to protect all people from evil on a planet similar to Earth, and to help those in trouble. On the ship, he also behaves seriously and rudely.

Shadow is an anthropomorphic hedgehog with black fur. Dark fur covers most of his body. On the back of his head, he has six large and long quills, four of which curve upward and two downward. Several red stripes can also be seen on the quills. Shadow has pointed eyes with a red iris and large red lines at the corners of his eyes. His muzzle is a standard brown color, as is the skin inside his ears. His nose, like all members of his species, is medium in size and black. Shadow has white fur on his chest. Like all hedgehogs, he also has two quills sticking out of his shoulder blades and a small tail. He also has long red stripes on the sides of his arms and legs. For clothing, Captain Shadow wears a red pirate hat with gold trim and two red feathers on top. He wears a black eye patch over his left eye, which is blind, and for clothing, he wears a red and gold tailcoat and a white shirt, belted with a brown leather belt. He wears red and gold handcuffs on his wrists and ankles, as well as rope bracelets on his wrists and ankles, resembling inhibitor rings. He wears brown leather gloves and brown leather aviator boots with gold buckles.
