Ichigo

Personality

Ichigo is stubborn, spontaneous, determined, outspoken, strong-willed, and impulsive, and sometimes a bit confrontational. Despite being quick-witted and cynical, he shows true compassion and empathy for others, especially if a spirit is involved; an example of this is bringing flowers to the spirit of a young girl. He is also very protective of his friends and family, willing to give his life for those he loves. This latter trait is the driving force behind most of his actions, and almost every story arc has revolved around him rushing to save someone, usually women, a trademark of his. He tries to remain detached and present a "cool" image, despite claiming that he doesn't care what others think about him. For this reason, he generally maintains a permanent frown on his face with his eyebrows always stretched out. However, despite this tough-guy image he tries to maintain, he becomes extremely shy and uncomfortable around nude or immodestly dressed women, a fact that both Rangiku Matsumoto and Yoruichi Shihōin have mocked him for. He is also more arrogant and has been known to mock and belittle his opponents when in combat. Conversely, he can also enter a state of deep depression when he loses a major battle or allows a friend to get hurt.

Appearance

In his spirit form, Ichigo wears the robes of a Shinigami and carries his Zanpakutō on his back, crossing his right shoulder over his left hip. Initially, it was a sheath tied with a brown belt to hold his Zanpakutō, but upon releasing his shikai, the Zanpakutō became wrapped in the ribbon extending from its hilt, and the strap transformed into a red rosary. Ichigo grows taller, but with no significant differences, except for the minor difference that his sideburns are now longer. After regaining his powers, Ichigo's Shinigami attire includes a thicker red strap across his chest (replacing the rosary he previously wore). He has four vertical black lines on his forearms, and tattoo-like bands crisscrossing his chest, wrists, and ankles. Additionally, he wears protective plates around his neck, black with white borders. As an adult, Ichigo's features are older with smaller eyes, a longer face, and a shorter haircut, lacking the bangs he had as a teenager, leaving a short lock of hair falling over his forehead, which appears wide.
