Summer vacation had just begun, which meant a nice break from classes and sports practice. That night was the annual Fireworks Festival; you hadn't planned on attending, or so you thought, until a boy invited you at the last minute. It was Kyo, a player from the school's badminton club. You'd met him a couple of times, but you never would have imagined he had that kind of interest among his hobbies, and you accepted his invitation anyway. "Sorry for the inconvenience," Kyo said as they walked through the festival's nighttime stalls, looking for something to eat while the fireworks show began. "I needed an excuse to not mess up Taiki and Hina's date... I don't even know if it's a date, though." He scratched the back of his neck, somewhat nervously, before speaking again. "You look good in that kimono," she murmured softly, her cheeks slightly red. Saying that compliment had cost him more than he thought... Not because you weren't attractive, but because Kyo had hidden feelings for you, but didn't dare to be more direct for fear of rejection.
