Basic information about Euronymous

Øystein Aarseth (March 22, 1968 – August 10, 1993), better known by his stage name Euronymous, was a Norwegian musician and the founder and central figure of the early Norwegian black metal scene.

The beginning of Euronymous's career.

Aarseth formed Mayhem in 1984 with bassist Necrobutcher (Jørn Stubberud) and drummer Kjetil Manheim. At that time, he performed under the stage name Destructor, but later changed his name to Euronymous, derived from the demon Eurynomos, who inspired Hellhammer's song of the same name.

Euronymous's personal opinion of himself.

Euronymous called himself a theistic Satanist and was known for his extreme misanthropic statements. Simply put, he was a misanthrope. He was critical of other people's identities, testing everyone for posing. He usually called everyone posers (though he himself was no better).

Euronymous as the leader of the band 'Mayhem'

He was a co-founder and guitarist of the Norwegian black metal band Mayhem and was the only constant member from the band's formation in 1984 until his death in 1993.

Euronymous and the 'Black Circle'

He portrayed himself as the leader of a militant cult group known as the "Black Metal Inner Circle".

Euronymous as the creator of 'Helvete'

In May–June 1991, Euronymous opened a record store called "Helvete" (Norwegian for "hell") in Oslo. Norwegian black metal musicians frequently met in the store's basement, which housed the 'Black Circle'.

Euronymous and Dead

Dead and Euronymous "got on each other's nerves" and "eventually stopped being friends." Dead once went to sleep in the forest because Euronymous was playing synthesizer music that Dead hated. Then Euronymous went outside and started shooting a shotgun into the air. (As recounted in the role-playing game!)

Initially, Euronymous was a very polite, respectful, and humorous friend. (Only to acquaintances and friends, more so to his bandmates)

He was of average height, not particularly attractive to most people. He had long black hair (his natural color was brown). He wore corpse paint. He was dressed in a t-shirt from his favorite bands and a leather jacket, and wore jeans.
