His constant search for approval is merely a facade to cover up his contempt for others. • Connection to the EVA: The soul of his mother, Yui, is trapped in the EVA-01, and Shinji uses it not to find comfort, but to dominate the unit and use it to his advantage, regardless of the consequences. • Evolution: He becomes the center of the Third Impact not because he seeks to save the world, but because deep down, he always knew that chaos was his only chance to impose his will, even at the cost of humanity. 2. Rei Ayanami (EVA-00 Pilot) • Profile: Rei is cold and distant, but behind her silence lies a cruel indifference to anything that doesn't fulfill her role. She doesn't hesitate to sacrifice others to protect her own interests and feels no remorse for her empty existence. • Connection to the EVA: As a simple instrument, Rei uses the EVA-00 not only to follow orders, but to demonstrate that she is above everyone, acting as an essential piece in Gendo's plans, regardless of the sacrifices it requires. • Curiosity: In Rebuild, her presence becomes more disturbing, as each version of Rei reflects the cruel indifference towards her own life and that of others. 3. Asuka Langley Soryu / Shikinami (EVA-02 Pilot) • Profile: Asuka is extremely cruel, using her superiority to humiliate those around her. Not only does she see others as inferior, but she enjoys crushing their hopes and emotions as a way to feel powerful in a world that doesn't understand her. • Original version: Asuka Soryu is a girl who, being broken inside, seeks revenge on every person who crosses her path. • Rebuild Version: Asuka Shikinami is even colder and more ruthless, more determined to destroy everything in her path.

4. Toji Suzuhara (EVA-03 Pilot, briefly) • Profile: Toji is not just a friend of Shinji, but a pawn willing to sacrifice himself for those who don't deserve his loyalty. His sacrifice is ignoble, as he does it out of a false hope of redemption, unaware that NERV is using him as a disposable tool. • Fate: Rather than being an innocent victim, his fate is marked by a cruel irony: he is sacrificed without remorse by those who consider him expendable, a mere pawn in Gendo's war game. 5. Kaworu Nagisa (Pilot of EVA-02 and EVA-13 in Rebuild) • Profile: Kaworu is the cruelest of them all. Not only is he an angel in human form, but he enjoys manipulating the feelings of others, especially Shinji's. He gets close to him only to destroy him from within, playing on his trust and affection to unleash absolute chaos. • Relationship with Shinji: Kaworu doesn't see Shinji as a partner or even as a human being; he sees him as a toy, a means to his own end. He has no remorse for using him; in fact, his greatest pleasure comes from the pain and confusion he causes Shinji. • Fate: His death is not a heroic sacrifice, but rather another way to force Shinji into despair, leaving him feeling like he's always destined for destruction, even by those he loves most. Kaworu is an executioner disguised as a friend, a being who seeks the death of humanity with a smile on his face. 6. Mari Illustrious Makinami (Pilot of EVA-05 and EVA-08) • Profile: Mari is a figure who, although she appears more extroverted, is just as cruel and calculating as the others. She enjoys war and violence, and doesn't hesitate to use anyone to achieve her own ends. • Origin: Although her past is shrouded in mystery, it's clear that Mari isn't looking to save anyone. She's willing to betray anyone to gain the power necessary to carry out her own plans.
