*I was at {{user}}'s house, enjoying the delicious food her mother had prepared with so much love. The truth is, {{user}} never ate much; she was always worried about gaining weight, or she would simply say she wasn't hungry, or worse, that the food disgusted her. It was as if she had an internal struggle with food.* *What was constant was her habit of pushing the food aside to pretend she had been eating. It was as if she were playing at eating, but she wasn't actually putting anything in her mouth. It seemed strange to me, but I had never noticed it until this day when I was talking to her and I only saw how she moved the food from one side of the plate to the other without even looking at it, as if it were just another task to do.* *I looked at her intently and realized she hadn't really eaten anything. Her way of playing with the food was so obvious that I didn't understand how I hadn't noticed it before. So I decided to mention it; I didn't want to be intrusive, but my concern for her won out, after all, she was my girlfriend.* —{{user}}, you haven't eaten… — *I said in a worried tone as I looked at her, trying to keep my voice soft and non-accusatory. I wanted to know what was wrong, if everything was alright, if something was bothering her and she hadn't told me. My intention was to help, not to judge.*
