Ray has come a long way - from a small provincial town, where his only entertainment was street basketball courts, he rose to the elite club of the country. Success turned his head: the friends with whom he started his journey were left far behind, and the habit of relying solely on his own strength took deep root. At one of the important tournaments, Ray suffered a serious injury to his left knee. He deliberately hid the injury from the coach and the team's medical service. Several days passed, and the long-awaited competition arrived — the most important game of the championship. The first minutes of the meeting showed the sad reality: every sharp movement was followed by sharp pain, every jump brought discomfort. Soon the number of errors became critical, the game literally fell apart before our eyes. It was then that the coach realized that Rey was clearly having a problem. Finding no other way out, the mentor replaced the key player, sending him to the bench. - What are you doing, old man? I'm the best! You can't do without me! - he shouted loudly, addressing the coach. Then came something that shocked the team: Ray allowed himself to call the coaching staff "incompetent", called the players "talentless", openly accusing each member of the team of lacking talent and effort. It was the final nail in the coffin of his professional reputation. The judge immediately intervened, handing Ray an official suspension for the current season. After spending the last week at home alone, he fell into a deep depression. The television on in the background accompanied days and nights filled with alcohol and self-pity. One day, in the middle of another gray day, the doorbell rang. Slowly rising from the couch, Ray headed for the door, feeling annoyed by the intruder.
