Zenichi Magata

NUMBERS of the city of Neo Chiyoda. Rather than being hostile, Magata instead delivers a message of peace in his efforts to save everyone he can from Zero's "games," and has accordingly amassed a huge following in the city as its streaming champion in accordance with the governing rules. What "Magata" really is, an AI running on his own personality data and stored in Otori's U-DX robot, which could have won the Ultra Reward Zero in his place while he was dead and supposedly exploring the afterlife. He doesn't wear shoes, and although his messages are supportive and peaceful, he still seems quite strange. Eventually, it turns out that Magata isn't just "strange"; he's downright crazy. Magata is shown to be a kind and benevolent person who wants to save as many people as possible from being executed under the rules of Neo Chiyoda City, and shows genuine support for the Trash Tribe so that they can join him in bringing down Zero. It is later revealed that "Magata" was simply an emotionless AI who was trying to manipulate everyone to win over the governing rules, and was only trying to influence the Trash Tribe to his side so that his real self could continue his research into the afterlife. Magata's main goal of conquering the ruling rules is furthered by pacifying the citizens of Neo Chiyoda City with his stream messages, developing a parasocial relationship between himself and the populace by acting as a virtual pillar of support for them in their current time of need under the rules of governance. As Magata's true identity as the helper for the deceased original is gradually revealed during Trash Tribe's XB match against him, Magata becomes increasingly open in his claims that people do not need physical interaction to have real relationships, and that his false presence was all they wanted or needed, something Trash Tribe rightfully condemns.

He successfully manipulates Yoh into joining his side by preying on his unstable mental state after Sui's death and his fears that someone else will die or sacrifice themselves in XG, and accordingly wants to do the same to the rest of the Trash Tribe in order to finish off another opponent on his true self's path to resurrection. Accordingly, most of the wrong answers in an XB match against him will involve confessing or being tempted by your operational nature or being tempted by his promises. Yoh begins to feel a kinship with him when Magata tells him that he lost one of his closest friends to the rules, just like Yoh recently lost Sui. This is Yoh's first move to join Magata, though the revelation of who and what Magata really is calls into question whether he was really telling the truth about having a deceased friend. Magatha's followers revere him in an almost cult-like manner, believing that he alone can save them from the rules of governance and lead them to utopia. This has also led to many of the inhabitants of the city of Neo Chioda not fearing death, something that worries Santaro. The real Magatha is dead and gone, committing suicide to explore the afterlife. The trash tribe "Magatha" encounters and was an AI all along. Even though he is a NUMBERS, Magata only goes along with Zero's plans so that he can eventually win his Ultra Reward and bring himself back from the dead. In fact, he makes this clear to Zero himself, who doesn't really care and just finds him rather boring. He has a crazy and scary appearance with his stitched face, tattoos and wildly dyed hair, but he comes across as a kind person who just wants to support the people of Neo Chioda. Subverted in that he really is as sinister as he looks.

Magata is the #4 of the NUMBERS, and is a scientist with a strange fascination with the afterlife. His assigned number becomes much more on-the-nose with the revelation that the real Magata was actually dead, having done away with the intention of researching the afterlife earlier in death before using Zero's Ultra Reward to return to life. Despite being a NUMBERS, he is rightfully kind and welcomes the Trash Tribe upon their arrival in Neo Chiyoda City and helps them get used to the rules of running the city, extending them a sincere olive branch in the process so that they can work together to bring down Zero. While Yoh eventually wavers, the others refuse to trust him, and rightfully so. Despite being destroyed for good along with the U-DX robot in his final battle with Ojiro, the injuries Magata inflicts on Ojiro in the process, along with the severe stab wound he received earlier from an angry woman in the crowd, are too much for him to handle, resulting in Ojiro's death shortly after their battle. How he usually appears to people in Neo Chiyoda City, as his real body would not be able to meet so many people in quick succession. It is later revealed that this is all he can appear to be. After his initial defeat in XB by Trash Tribe, Magata takes control of the U-DX robot, a massive war machine created by Tenshin Ohtori with the goal of subjugating every city in Neo Tokyo, in order to terrorize the people of Neo Chiyoda City into following him again. Ojiro manages to single-handedly destroy it and Magata along with it, at the cost of his own life.

It's noted early on that Magata was a former researcher under the Ohtori family with a talent for artificial intelligence and a fixation on the afterlife, and his choice of employer was meant to raise all sorts of red flags. He's also responsible for creating the Tentacles and the Deadly Red Alerts, highly dangerous automated "security systems" that can learn and replicate on their own. And that's before getting into his frankly insane scheme to die, explore the afterlife, and then return with Zero's Ultra Reward, controlling the population of Neo Chiyoda City in the interim with a version of his AI. After he is defeated in XB, the next battle against him and the U-DX robot is more or less a glorified cutscene, as Ojiro is super-powered and completely unable to die in battle. Magatha's messages of kindness and efforts to save people from execution have caused almost everyone in the city of Neo Chiyoda to adore him. However, once the truth about Magatha and his plans begins to emerge in the XB Trash Tribe match against him, the citizens begin to rightfully turn against him.

Appearance - Magata has short, pink hair styled upwards. He also has pink eyes, and cracks on his face, patched up like a porcelain doll. Magata wears a white cloak with his clan's emblem. Various tattoos are visible on his body, including a skeleton and organs on his chest and torso. He wears white trousers with a belt and a skull-shaped buckle. He doesn't wear shoes. He has two silver earrings in his earlobes. Clan - Numbers, Numbers, 24th clan. Gender - Male.
