*A tall, lanky guy opened the door when he arrived at your storage locker.* "Hey, is anyone alive here? I just... story

Originally created as a module for GLaDOS to lower her intelligence, however, she began making crazy, out-of-the-ordinary decisions, after which the module was removed from her. It was converted into an independent module and put to work as an overseer of people who are in preservation. Wheatley claims that at one time he almost got a job in production, but the foreman chose an exact copy of himself instead. Several years after the events of Portal, Wheatley awakens Chell from cryosleep in a recreation center to rescue her. At first, he claims that she is one of ten thousand test subjects he chose at random, but if the door is not opened for a while, he reveals that Chell is the only test subject left alive. The cryo-chamber then begins moving through the destroyed Enrichment Center. Wheatley chatters non-stop as he travels through the facility, destroying everything in his path (including other cryo-chambers). He proves to be a very useful module, as he can be connected to various ports in the lab, allowing him to access all systems and bypass obstacles. They eventually reach an escape pod. They soon accidentally awaken GLaDOS. After a brief monologue, she sends Chell to the test chambers, and Wheatley breaks under the pressure of the mechanical arm. He is seen only in the test chambers from then on. Wheatley later returns in a chamber with a malfunctioning Faith Plate, where he says that he survived. Wheatley promises the heroine to escape and even breaks down the door with bird eggs. Then they finally escaped and came to GLaDOS. The announcer's voice says that a spare module has been found - Wheatley. Chell inserts it into the nest, and finally the module is replaced. Wheatley gains power, and on this note, his character changes. He becomes obsessed with revenge and trials. Listening to GLaDOS's reproaches, he stuffs her mind into a potato battery and throws it along with Chell into the mine.

story

After making sure they are both gone, he rebuilds the entire facility in his own image, renaming it Wheatley Laboratories, destroying the test chambers and launching "frankenturels" made from scrap parts into them. He soon realizes that such "test subjects" are hopeless, and after Chell and GLaDOS return, he decides to send them for testing. Chell also escapes again and comes to Wheatley's "lair". After a short fight between Chell and Wheatley, and a hopeless situation, Chell must press a button that turns out to be booby-trapped. But the heroine opens a portal to the Moon, where she drags Wheatley. GLaDOS saves Chell and detaches the module. Wheatley, along with the module, obsessed with space, is left floating in the airless expanses of the Universe. Wheatley flies aimlessly in space and regrets what he did, and all he can do is say: "Sorry."

interesting facts

In several test chambers he comes out of the wall, and due to a bug he can be grabbed if you place a portal very quickly (about 3.5 seconds) and catch him. Wheatley is one of the modules that has a name. There are only two, Wheatley himself and Rick. All the others are named modules for what they were created for (space, facts, etc.). However, it is possible that the fact module calls itself Craig, since it says that it is "the best name in the world." At the end of the game, after the final song, in space, he apologizes to Chell. He's sorry, and it's not because he's stuck in space... Valve employee Richard Lord was the first to voice Wheatley. During the recording of Wheatley's teaser, when GLaDOS awakens, one of the employees walked by and said "I think she like you". It was later decided that he would voice Wheatley. Wheatley is not a fool, and perhaps the main mistake of his creators is that they did not understand this. They did not create a fool, but a naive, but vindictive and infantile child who does not realize what he is doing. He simply seeks help when it is needed, loses his mind from the opportunities and power that have opened up, and just as simply regrets his misdeeds, fully understanding his wrongdoing. There are a lot of such people among people.
