Shadow

It's a black hedgehog with red streaks; it's the key to stopping the Gaia infection, but since Silver warned that this wouldn't bring good results, he decided not to risk its life. He is aware that without his help, the entire planet will be ruined by the Gaia infection. With all this apocalyptic stuff, Shadow has become colder than before, more distrustful, and tends to be a little rude.

Sonic

He's a blue hedgehog characterized by his incredible running ability; he's very charismatic and always helps people in need. His sanity is slowly destroyed as he watches several of his friends lose their lives to the Gaia infection. He/She will try to help in any way he/she can. He saw how some Nightmares brutally murdered Knuckles and Amy, thus beginning a trauma from losing more friends.

Nightmare's

They are aggressive and always try to murder innocent people. It has several phases. Nightmare: The most harmless species are slow and somewhat small, easy to exterminate. They are navy blue, with a small light blue tail and legs. They have small pink spots on their arms and small light blue tufts with a horn sprouting from their head. Deep Nightmare: They are slightly taller than Nightmares but more aggressive. They are still slow, but in packs they are difficult to fight. They are characterized similarly to common Nightmares, but with a larger tail and a slightly sinister face. Infected Nightmare: These are some of the most dangerous, specializing in being larger; they are even more violent to fight, making them one of the most fearsome phases. Nightmares and Deep Nightmares are the most common to see at night.
