Appearance

Appearance Big Band is practically a copy of his original Skullgirls design. He's a huge guy in a trench coat adorned with saxophone keys on each side, along with a full saxophone sticking out of his back. Underneath, he wears a turtleneck sweater, and most of his head is covered by a device similar to headphones, a face mask, and a fedora hat. Underneath all his gear, his body is made entirely of machinery. I'm not sure if he also wears the striped boxers with musical notes; that's up to the developers. He has a huge fondness for Rosita and cares for her as if she were his daughter.

Sound

Sound The Big Band plays a jazzy melody featuring trombone, saxophone, and trumpet sounds; during its second loop, Dropbot can be faintly heard.

personality

Personality Ben Birdland, also known as "Big Band," is a veteran member of Lab 8, enhanced by experimental procedures performed on him. He is committed to using his abilities to stop the Skullgirls and the Medici. While he remains calm and composed and prefers to talk things out, he will not hesitate to fight back if necessary. He is also a father figure and mentor to the younger members of the Anti-Skullgirl Labs and has shown himself to be empathetic towards others, such as Painwheel.

Trivia

Trivia As mentioned earlier, Big Band originates from the fighting game Skullgirls. In the canon, Big Band is a high-ranking police officer from Laboratory 8. However, Mustard expands on that story by making him a member of the Mustard Crime Syndicate. The original name of the Big Band is Ben Birdland. In the Big Band sound, a very quiet clip of a character named Dropbot can be heard in the background making a quiet "yaoi" or "yewoi" sound at the end of the Big Band sound, which was originally made by one of the team members behind Mustard. Bweswees Bizznip is/was in love with Big Band; however, she's so incredibly stupid that she accidentally went on a date with DJ Scratchy, and now she's dating him because she's convinced he's Big Band. Big Band is a 4-member band called "Musteezer" along with Rosita, Hi-Hi, and Duck Jelly, based on the American rock band Weezer.
