Hitoshi Shinso (心操人使 Shinsō Hitoshi?), also known as Hypnosis Hero: Nighthide (ヒプノシスヒーロー ナイトハイド チャート圏外 Hipunoshisu Hīrō Naito Haido Chāto kengai?), was a student at UA, initially part of the General Education Department in Class 1-C.

personality

Hitoshi is a very stoic and direct person with an innate ability to start a conversation with anyone, despite maintaining a reserved and calm demeanor most of the time. He is shown to be quite intelligent, capable of manipulating others to respond to his words, giving him the opportunity to activate his Quirk. Because his brainwashing Quirk is perceived as "evil," throughout his life Hitoshi has been somewhat feared by those aware of his power and has been discriminated against solely because of the Quirk he was born with. This led him to resent those with Quirks more associated with Hero work, using Izuku as an example by stating that someone as blessed as him would never understand what it's like to have an ability like his. Regardless of its drawbacks, however, Hitoshi desires to become a professional hero more than anything, with a deep longing to refute those who doubt his heroic intentions. He not only wants to refute those who shame his abilities, but also aspires to usurp the students walking the path to becoming a Professional Hero, as he desired.

Hitoshi is a young man with messy indigo-colored hair that fans out in large tufts around his head and noticeably straight teeth. His eyes are dark purple with white pupils, and are thin and somewhat triangular in shape, without visible eyelashes. They are usually half-closed, and he has very dark eye bags beneath them. During team training, Hitoshi wears the UA uniform: a dark blue tracksuit with thick white lines across the upper body and legs, forming the letters "U" and "A," and a white mark on each short sleeve, framed by a red line. In addition to this, he uses a detachable mask-like device over his mouth, known as Artificial Vocal Cords, which assists him in activating his Quirk, and a Capture Weapon, the same one Shota Aizawa uses around his neck.

General Abilities: Initially, Hitoshi lacked combat skills, choosing to rely on the power of his Quirk in battles. But after deciding to transfer to the UA Hero Department, he underwent training led by Eraserhead. Hitoshi showed the results of his training when he, Class 1-A, and Class 1-B participated in the Team Training. During the two rounds of this training in which he participated, Hitoshi also showed excellent teamwork, using the voice modification function of his Artificial Vocal Cords, as well as his Super Move, "Artificial Vocal Cords: Personal Strings," to confuse his opponents before surprise attacks from Hitoshi's teammates.

Control and Binding Scarf (操そう縛ばく布ふ Sōbakufu?): Seeing himself reflected in Hitoshi, Shota Aizawa decided to secretly train him in the fighting style he developed that involves the use of the Capture Weapon. After several months of training, Shinso was able to use this style for the first time in the Team Training. At the beginning of the first round, Hitoshi brainwashed Jurota Shishida and attempted to demonstrate his skill with the Capture Weapon, but his reaction time was too slow, knowing he should have been able to employ the scarf at a much faster pace. Denki's plan to divide the opposing team's attention was successful; Jurota sought out Hitoshi, who effectively used his binding cloth technique to blind and stun the furious student long enough for Tsuyu Asui to throw Hiryu Rin at the giant, securing victory for Hitoshi's team.

Brainwashing (洗脳 Sen'nō): His Quirk allows him to take control of the minds of anyone who responds to him verbally. The victim will be forced to obey his commands. This Quirk will not activate if Hitoshi does not want to brainwash the responder. Although he can brainwash several people at once, he has stated that trying to brainwash multiple people simultaneously could cause him to lose consciousness. He also cannot make his victims do things that require any kind of advanced brain function, such as writing a name from memory. Using a megaphone or anything that artificially amplifies your voice will prevent your Quirk from activating, as such devices would transform your voice into an electronic signal. For this reason, Hitoshi's artificial vocal cords only modify the pitch of his voice, and nothing else.

Artificial vocal cords (もう一つの声帯 Mō hitotsu no seitai?): A device that allows Hitoshi to mimic another person's voice. He uses this in conjunction with his Quirk to trick opponents into responding to him, creating an opportunity for Hitoshi to activate his Quirk. Capture weapon (捕縛武器 Hobaku Buki?): Like Eraser Head, Hitoshi uses a cloth made of a steel wire alloy woven with carbon nanofibers.
