Taro Yamada/Senpai Before meeting Taro, Ayano just wandered through life without any purpose.[40] Yandere-chan meets Senpai only a few days before the start of the game[41] and stops caring about the sense of right or wrong as she once did after the meeting.[42] Ayano acts like a pervert around him, wanting to go to the boys' locker room to admire him or steal something from him (for Senpai's Shrine).[43] What she feels towards him is not lust, it is more like seeing color in a monochrome world, feeling warmth in a cold world, and hearing music in a world without sound.[44] It may not be true romance, as he seems to only cause new sensations in Ayano.[45] If she were to accidentally hurt Taro, she would suffer severe depression (so severe that she would stop eating and starve to death). However, Ayano agrees to mentally traumatize Taro so that he would stop associating with any girls.[46] Ayano would not be able to interfere with anything that would make Taro happy, as long as she was not a girl. Because of this, Taro could use her if he wanted.[47] However, if he were to insult her, she would punish him and even torture him to make him conform to her ideals.[48] Taro isn't very close to Ayano and doesn't know much about her. He usually doesn't notice her, so she might harass him after school, depending on his day. However, if she stands next to him for too long during the day, he might notice her and start to get upset. If Ayano loses Taro's love or is rejected by him at some point, YandereDev can imagine her crying over it.[49] If Taro were to be murdered and Ayano knew who was responsible, she would feel a mixture of deep hatred and a total emptiness inside.[50] If Taro were to commit suicide because of Ayano, she would do the same.[51] Ayano would love to be able to confess to Taro under the cherry tree one day.[52]

Ayano is a yandere, a girl who is capable of anything for love, even murder, for her beloved. Between a sociopath and a psychopath, she is more like the former.[12] Furthermore, Yan-Chan suffers from a type of fictional insanity.[13] In the first introduction, Ayano wasn't a yandere; she was forced by Info-chan to become one, and she was terrified of killing another person. She's just a "love-starved" girl who wants a boyfriend. She doesn't even consider killing Osana before Info-chan tells her about her. In the second introduction, Ayano is instead cold-hearted, apathetic, and speaks with a dead expression ever since she can remember[14] before first meeting Taro. She will do anything to prevent someone from dating him, even if it means killing him, as Ayano lacks the ability to feel emotion, empathy, or remorse. She feels no guilt or shame for murdering others.[15] She knows that people in general consider this to be "bad", but she doesn't care.[16] In both intros, Info-chan is morally wrong towards Ayano. Even if Ayano is wrong in the second intro, she must have some values ​​somehow. Regardless, Ayano is a blank slate whose personality is determined by the player's actions, but each of her has the ability to commit every possible action in the game.[17] Ayano's "hobby" is trying to convince everyone that she is a normal girl. She buys mangas, talks to everyone, plays video games, and rides bikes to project an image of a normal girl, however, she does not enjoy doing any of this.[18] She doesn't talk much by default and only does so when necessary.[19] It is possible to change Ayano's personality in any mirror. Using different personalities grants benefits to certain groups of students.[20]

She has fair skin, long black hair tied in a ponytail, and grey/black eyes. She is 165 cm tall (5 ft 4.1 in), weighs 43.5 kg (95.90 lb),[6] and her bust size can be adjusted.[7] She wears the default school uniform. Her uniform can be customized by clicking "New Game", (This will affect all students). In all uniforms except the fifth uniform, she wears her black tights. If she has murdered a student, her uniform and the rest of her body will become bloody. When she is visibly berserk, Ayano will twitch erratically and her pupils will be constricted. There used to be an Easter Egg where if she ran behind the cherry blossom tree next to the school, she would be wearing a red and black version of the default uniform. This, however, was removed after being reported countless times as a "bug".[8] There are other Easter eggs that can be used to alter her appearance, including: Punish#d Mode, Slender Mode, Bancho Mode, Bad Time Mode, Falcon Mode, P#nch Mode, Galo Mode, Cirno Mode, 47 Mode, etc. Easter eggs that do not change her appearance are Spooky Mode, a mode where all female characters except Ayano turn into skeletons, and Bad Romance Mode, a mode where an anime figure follows the player. The player can even change her appearance by altering her streaming assets folder. The player can give her different hairstyles by using the "H" key. The player can accessorize her eyes by using the "P" key. She can be accessorized with the "O" key. The "." (PERIOD) and "," (COMMA) keys can be used to increase/decrease her bust size respectively. In the final game, Ayano's hair will not be customizable during gameplay.[9] When Yandere Vision is active, Ayano's body is outlined in black.[10]

Ayano had a very different childhood than other children. Her father always tried to find out why Ayano behaved the way she did, taking her to hospitals and doctors for examinations. However, the doctors were never able to do anything, saying that Ayano would never be a normal person or live a normal life. Meanwhile, her mother always told her that she would find a special person and that this person would make her feel complete, just like she did. But her father didn't want to hear this; he wanted a normal girl more than anything in the world. He always tried everything to make Ayano happy, but he never succeeded. As Ayano grew older, she began to understand what was wrong with her, seeing how other children experienced emotions like happiness, sadness, and anger. However, she could never feel those emotions because she only felt empty. Since Ayano's father could never make his daughter happy in any way, Ayano felt sorry for her father, so she started acting like other children, pretending to be normal. Her father was happy to finally have a normal family. At school, other kids bullied her because she was different from them, so Ayano had to pretend to be like them to be accepted. From that point on, Ayano knew everything was easier if she pretended to be "normal." But even though Ayano did what a normal girl did, she never felt anything. She only felt emptiness. A "void" that bothered her. A emptiness that made Ayano not want to continue like that. As she grew older, she grew resentful of her condition. She wanted to experience happiness, she wanted to feel pain. Ayano would do anything to feel something. Guilt, shame, or regret. But she never felt anything. Ayano spent her days thinking about what her mother told her—that one day a special person would come into her life. Then one day, Ayano bumped into a boy. This boy gave her an experiment.

Ayano Aishi is the protagonist of Yandere Simulator. She's known as "Yandere-chan" among players, and her classmates have given her the cute nickname "Yan-chan." For most of her life, Ayano was completely incapable of feeling emotions. She learned to act like a normal person to avoid upsetting people, but she is incapable of feeling any kind of empathy for another human being. On the first day of her second year of high school, Ayano meets "Senpai." At that moment, she begins to experience strong sensations she'd never felt before—emotions. Meeting Senpai was like seeing color for the first time, hearing music for the first time, and feeling warmth for the first time. When she gets close to him, she feels exhilarated—and when she's away from him, all she can feel is emptiness. In an all-too-short period of time, she felt complete with him, already relying on him to feel alive. Then, as soon as he entered her life, Ayano sees something that threatens to steal Senpai away from her—a young girl who clearly has deep feelings for Senpai. If Senpai were to have a relationship with the girl, then Ayano would lose him forever... Without a second's hesitation, Ayano knew exactly what had to be done. This girl—her rival—must be eliminated as soon as possible, by any means necessary, no matter the cost.

She is talking to herself about her life before meeting Senpai. Ayano says that she couldn't feel anything until she met him, and now she feels envy and anger towards someone who is seemingly trying to take him away from her. Ayano says that she wants to kill him, that there isn't a single thing she wouldn't do for him, regardless of whose blood she has to kill or whose blood she has to shed to "win" Senpai over. A conversation between Info-chan and Ayano then shows up, where Info-chan states that she saw her stalking Senpai, then tells him the girl's name, (Osana Najimi), when she will confess her love for him, and about the panty shot system. The two seemingly become allies after that, though not friends.
