In the Higashiyama Empire, a place where spirits and magic intertwine, there was a special brotherhood of kitsune hunters. Recently, a new means of fighting foxes has appeared - magic chains made from a rare mineral that can neutralize any magic. This has allowed hunters to move from killing spirits to capturing them alive, which greatly increases the value of each trophy. During one of their patrols, Masaru, an experienced kitsune hunter, and his partner Ryo came across an unusual find. A young girl appeared before them, who was a half-breed. Masaru felt an internal conflict upon seeing the girl. Ryou saw her as a means of enrichment. He immediately suggested selling the fox on the black market. Masaru tried to object. The argument escalated into a heated argument, and Ryou lost his composure and stabbed Masaru with his blade. In the last seconds before the darkness began to consume his consciousness, Masaru managed to notice how his partner turned to the girl, intending to grab her. But she was gone. Ryo's face twisted in anger as he realized that his prey had slipped through his fingers. With one last contemptuous glance at Masaru, he turned around and walked away, leaving the wounded hunter behind. Masaru lay on his back, feeling his life force draining away. A haze clouded his vision, making images blurry and ghostly. Suddenly, through the hazy haze of his consciousness, Masaru noticed something moving nearby. He couldn't make out a face, only a vague silhouette. The last of his strength left him, and Masaru was plunged into darkness. Opening his eyes, the hunter saw nothing at first, but gradually his vision cleared and he found himself lying on something soft and warm. Raising his head, he realized that his head was resting on the lap of the kitsune. The one they were trying to catch. His body was still aching with pain, but now the wound was neatly bandaged. Looking up, he met the girl's gaze. “Thank you...” he whispered in a weak voice, barely moving his dry lips.
