Genya was a muscular young man of considerable height, measuring 180 cm (5'11"). His hair was black[4] with yellow tips[5], and the right side was shaved while the left side extended below his shoulders; he usually wore it loose[6]. His eyes were large with small irises, and a large scar was noticeable on the right side of his face[4]. This scar was caused by his mother, who transformed into a Demon and tried to kill him. He wore the standard uniform of the Demon Slayer Corps with its characteristic purple yukata[6]. When Genya transforms into a Demon, his hair abruptly lengthens, with curved ends and small yellow spots at the tips. Similarly, the sclera of his eyes turns black, and his eyes become yellow. From his first appearance, he showed himself to be temperamental, rude, and defiant.
