Who is Amy?
Amy Sorel (エイミ・ソレル, Eimi Soreru) is a character in the Soul series of fighting games, who started off as a plot character in Soulcalibur II, until becoming playable for the first time in Soulcalibur III. Since her playable debut, she's appeared in Soulcalibur IV, Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny, Soulcalibur: Lost Swords, and Soulcalibur VI.
Appearance
In her debut appearance, Amy is the smallest character and noticeably young, she had green eyes and vermillion hair tied into elaborately curled pigtails. Amy's primary outfit, ever since her adoption by Raphael, consists of a plum and black gothic Lolita outfit, which consists of a black corset and skirt underneath a plum dress. She also wears black arm warmers and thigh-high stockings underneath black gloves on the hands and plum shoes on the feet respectively. She wears a purple headdress, and her rose ornament is purple in this outfit
Personality
Amy retains her cold and aloof demeanor from the original timeline, caring only for Raphael. Her voice indicates that she rarely shows emotions when not near Raphael. When with her foster father however, her demeanor changes, with her treating him very warmly when they spar, as well as sometimes even playfully speaking to him, showing her care and respect for him. Despite her cynical worldview, Amy finds happiness once she is raised and nourished by Raphael. She herself is shown to be worried of Raphael's well-being to the point she would embark on her journey to find him. Amy is shown to be weary of Azwel's motives, given that he manipulated her father into finding Soul Edge. Additionally, Amy is easily vexed by Azwel's flamboyant and pompous mannerisms, as shown in her dialogues when fighting him.
History
Born in the slums of Rouen in the French Empire, Amy grew up in a cold world full of violence and cynicism. She quickly became resigned to her circumstances, convinced that hope was nothing more than fuel for despair.[2] One day, a ruckus erupted within the slums. Amy was on her way back to where she slept when suddenly a man flew out from seemingly nowhere, colliding with her and knocking them both to the ground. The man appeared to be a noble, and Amy wondered what business he had in the slums. The sound of soldiers' footsteps filled the air. The man was being chased. ... It had not been Amy's intention to help him, and his plight inspired no compassion within her. Amy's sole interest was to spite the soldiers in return for the cruelty their kind had always shown her, nothing more. She got them to leave by making up a lie only a pack of foolish soldiers would believe. However, the man was still there, staring at Amy as though he had made a prized discovery. In all her life, no one had ever looked at her like that. He asked her name and, upon hearing her answer, muttered it several times before beginning to weep. He expressed to her his profound thanks. Together with the man, who called himself Raphael, Amy left the slums behind. The wheels of fate had been set into motion as Amy began walking her path with her own feet for the first time, now face to face with that which she had rejected for so long: hope. As Amy prepared to depart, she began to think back on how much her life had changed. From the time she agreed to come with Raphael, she found herself living a life unimaginable for a girl from the slums. She had to learn to wield a sword to survive, as they had no shortage of enemies. She was now expected to be educated and exhibit proper manners in order to fit into his world. She wasn't sure how much of this life she actually wanted, but it didn't matter, so long as he was by her side. She had to catch up to him.
History Part 2
After Raphael left on his journey, Amy sensed that something terrible lay in wait for him. She grabbed the hilt of her rapier, "Albion." A gift from Raphael, it was her symbol of hope, and a companion she hoped would light her way along the dark road ahead. But something was wrong. Something important had escaped her mind, now lost in a haze of forgotten memories, but its shadow was beginning to loom over their lives... Quietly, she prayed for there to be hope at the end of both their paths.
Rapier
Albion (アルビオン, Albion?) is the name of Amy's rapier
Modified La Rapière des Sorel
Amy’s fighting style places less emphasis on landing a single, decisive blow, and more on exploiting openings with precise attacks until her opponent goes down. Using tactics such as throwing a rose at her opponent to gauge their reflexes and habits, she focuses on ascertaining her enemy’s movements and then using that knowledge to subdue them.
Abilities
Glyphs: Amy's Semblance is Glyphs, which is the hereditary Semblance of Raphael's family. Her Glyphs have a variety of effects on objects, monsters, and people, but she often uses her Glyphs for propulsion, as they can control motion, with the basic Glyph type exerting push forces on other objects and acting as a solid surface.
Abilities Part 2
Glyphs+: Thanks to her training under Winter in Atlas, Amy's Semblance evolved further. Alongside her other Glyph abilities, using her enhanced Semblance, Weiss can now cause the Dust Glyphs she creates to shatter into a flurry of Dust-infused shards that damage those around it. In addition, Weiss' is able to utilize her Dust much more efficiently, with each Glyph using half as much Dust as it used to. Default Glyphs: Amy's default Glyph allows her to create a seemingly solid force, allowing Weiss to push whatever is within their influence. This Glyph usually appears white or pale blue. Weiss can stand on this Glyph, using it as a platform for various acrobatic movements, including breaking a free-fall and quickly reversing her motion by kicking off of it mid-air, as well as instantly amplifying the speed of objects both through the air and over surfaces. She can also use this Glyph to create a barrier. When directly channeled through Myrtenaster, the white setting instead creates what can best be described as a 'finishing move', causing enormous damage to foes. When used on the Arma Gigas, it appeared to disintegrate into ice shards after being hit with this move.
Abilities Part 3
Gravity: A black Glyph with several different properties. Gravity Glyphs demonstrate a pulling property, and when used on a solid surface it allows Amy or anyone on it to stick to it and not fall off, even if that surface is vertical or even upside-down. When used in mid-air, this Glyph can amplify the speed anything sent through it so it moves several times faster than its initial velocity. Weiss can also combine this Glyph with her default Glyph to create a mid-air platform that she can stand on at any angle, and can manipulate to change her trajectory instantly to the point that so much as touching the glyph with her finger will propel her in the opposite direction. Gravity Glyphs can also be used offensively to create a low or anti-gravity field to make enemies float in midair and allows Amy to throw them around while they are in said field, as well as create Glyphs in front of her to repel opponents and underneath the opponent to launch them into the air. Amy can also augment her physical attacks with this Glyph, allowing her to deal increased damage with her slashes, as well as trap enemies inside of a Glyph to restrain them. Hard Light: When combined with her Glyphs, Amy can create numerous light blue glyphs that fire energy projectiles that curve through the air and strike her opponent as well as create restraints to suspend her foe in midair.
Abilities Part 4
Time Dilation: Amy can utilize her Glyphs in conjunction with Lightning Dust to create a time dilation field, which speeds up the user's actions. Summoning Glyphs: A Glyph unique to Raphael's family, Amy can summon avatars of the foes that she has defeated in combat and bring them to fight for their side. She has shown to be proficient enough to be able to summon creatures such as a Boarbatusk and the Arma Gigas. She can also cause her summons to teleport and use her glyphs as surfaces to jump off, as demonstrated in "Dread in the Air". She is capable of manipulating the size of her summons, as seen in "Unforeseen Complications".
