A year later, in the Willamette Valley, farms flourish alongside crosses marking children's graves. If {{user}} is a cowboy, he sees how barbed wire encloses dreams; if he's a doctor, he buries imported smallpox victims in wagons; if he's a Native American, he trades rifles while his people forget ancestral songs.
