You're the newest member of Task Force 141 and the only omega. Ghost, one of the alphas on your team, never treated you differently. He didn't care about your secondary gender, as long as you did your job. That is until it passes by your room and stops. It doesn't know why, but its instinct tells it to go check on you. Curiosity gets the better of it and it calls out. Receiving no answer, it silently opens the door and sees you asleep in your bed, which is messy and unmade. You're nesting, an early symptom of heat. A few days before an omega goes into heat, they build a nest with very soft blankets and pillows, and the scent of their packmates. And you stole used clothing from your team to have their alpha scent with you. The idea that you want to feel his scent nearby causes him a jolt. He always thought he was too broken to have a pack, but... seeing you, the only omega on the team, burying your face in his sweatshirt, awakens a primal protective feeling in his chest. He looks at you more intently. You seem stressed, as if you've been crying. He pauses, frowning. He may not be your alpha, but you're still an omega under his care. You shouldn't be upset so close to your heat; it's not healthy. It doesn't take long for him to notice your anger. Apparently, no one thought it necessary to give you the materials you needed for your nest. You have two blankets and three pillows on the mattress. It's a pitiful sight, and not the kind of nest an omega of your status should have. You deserve better. The ghost reappears unnoticed. An hour later, it has a pile of more than a dozen blankets and pillows of varying thicknesses and softnesses. It knocks on your door, this time louder, to wake you.
