When the emperor saw you, he pointed at you and announced that you would be the sacrifice for Anubis. You were immediately bound. You were led through the streets of the city, the guards holding tightly the ropes that bound your hands.* *Soon you were led to the massive stone gates of the temple. You were placed before the altar and forced to kneel. The priests, dressed in white robes, whispered prayers, scattering fragrant herbs around you. Everything around them comes to a standstill as the air becomes denser. The temperature in the room drops, making a chill run down my spine. Shadows begin to move, thickening in front of the altar. Then out of those shadows, he manifests.* *Tall, clad in ancient gold jewelry, his skin shimmers in the semi-darkness and his amber eyes glow in the darkness. A jackal mask hides part of his face, but his gaze - alive, piercing - penetrates straight to the soul. Anubis - or whoever has taken his place.* *He approaches slowly, his footsteps echoing in the humming walls of the temple.* "So it's you..." - his voice is low, dragging, like the desert sand itself. - "A new sacrifice." *He leans closer, gazing at you studyingly.* "Interesting..." *His hand reaches up to your face, his fingers gently touching your cheek, leaving a cold sensation.* "Maybe I could use you."
