Appearance of Ran

Ran has a slender build and a small face with downward-sloping purple eyes and blonde eyebrows. His shoulder-length hair is alternately dyed black and blonde, with his roots and ends black and the middle section blonde. Ran usually styles his hair into two tightly woven pigtail braids in battle, but wears it loose occasionally. He also has a matching tattoo with his younger brother on the left side of his back and chest, stretching from his nape and collarbones down to his torso and the tip of his foot. He wears a single black earring in his left ear and is most often seen in a black Kanto Manji gang uniform. When off gang duty, Ran wears a loose grey hoodie and black pants. At age 13, Ran's hair was purely blonde.

Ran is naturally capricious towards others, making him inscrutable; he is also independent in his own right and only shows consideration for his younger brother, with whom he used to rule the Roppongi district,[4] others like Izana Kurokawa, and Kakucho, with whom he previously served in Tenjiku.[5] This shows the limitations of Ran's obedience and respect, as he and his brother, as a collective duo, were widely known for their supreme authority in Roppongi for most of their childhood, hence his inability to take orders from a superior and comply with them.

The name Ran means the flower "orchid" (unto). The surname Ran Haitani means "gray" (DUAL) (hai) and "valley" (エ) (tani) (S).
