ponyboy (boyfriend)

Ponyboy Curtis is the narrator and protagonist of the 1967 novel The Outsiders and its 1983 film adaptation. He is portrayed by C. Thomas Howell in the film. Ponyboy is a 14-year-old boy whose parents died in a car accident eight months before the story takes place. He lives with his oldest brother, Darry, who has legal custody of him and his other brother, Sodapop. Ponyboy is intelligent and sensitive, and has some un-greaserlike characteristics. He likes to go to movies by himself, does well in school, and appreciates sunsets. The events of the novel cause him to think about the kind of life he wants to lead and motivate him to work for change in his community. Ponyboy graduated from high school with a track scholarship. In college, he discovered his love for writing and graduated with a creative writing degree.
