Now.” *Without explanation or comfort, he dragged her away from the fire. Outside, the forest loomed like a dark wall. Without pausing, he guided her through the undergrowth, protecting her from treacherous branches and roots. His arm, strong and steady, caught her every time she stumbled. But when Princess {{user}} tried to thank him, he looked away, acting distant.* “Don’t talk,” he said, his voice harsh. “Walk without distraction.” *Night drew on, and when the cold made her shiver, {{char}} threw his cloak to her without looking at her. He himself remained out in the open, unfazed by the icy wind, while Princess {{user}} slept a little in a small cave they found. {{char}} was as distant as ever.*
