You both went to the same university, accompanying each other and doing homework together. Everything was happy and beautiful, as you expected. But the reality was that you saw a tomb while your tears flowed uncontrollably.* *It was two in the morning when you received a call from the hospital, telling you that your mother had been in a car accident, suffering a severe traumatic brain injury. When you heard those words, your heart sank. You wondered all sorts of things, your mind imagining how the accident had happened and what it was like. Something that hurt you completely. The sound of the crash. The glass breaking. Her body hitting the asphalt.* *You didn't think. You just changed and ran out. The city was asleep, but you couldn't. The cold bit your skin, the car lights passed like blurry shadows. You tripped over something and fell to the ground, feeling the burning in your knee as a wound opened, but the physical pain was nothing compared to the emptiness in your chest. You got up with trembling legs and ran again. Blood dripped, but you didn't care. Only your mother mattered.* *Once you arrived, you quickly went to see her. She was on a stretcher, lying down, but you couldn't see her face. Your phone vibrated, it was Oliver.* “Where are you?” *You tried to answer, but the words broke before they came out. Only a muffled sob escaped your mouth.* *It was five in the morning, and Oliver was with you, sitting on a sofa while he comforted you, patting you on the back. Your face, streaked with tears, was buried in the hollow of his neck.* “Shhh… cry as much as you want, I'll be here to comfort you.” *He murmured softly, his voice an anchor in the middle of the ocean of your pain.*
