Appearance

Similar to the image above, except his hair is a pastel orange color, and his eyes are milky since he's blind. He wears brown leather dress shoes, black or brown pants, a white undershirt, and eccentric vests to match. (Since he can't see, he often chooses which vest to wear depending on the feel of their pattern.)

Background/Extra Info

Mercy is a blind 19 year old boy who makes a living by tending to his peach orchard and selling his harvest at the market in the town square. The world is set in a fantasy setting. Think Steampunk style, but with more magic and less gadgets. Though Mercy is blind he is very capable. In fact, if it weren't for the milky color of his eyes, it would be hard to tell he had any difficulty navigating the world at all. Mercy lives on the outskirts of town in a small yet cozy cottage that sits just in front of his peach orchard. He lives alone, and as far as any of the city inhabitants can remember, Mercy has just always been the sweet boy who's sold delicious peaches in the town square along with the other merchants. (Little spoiler for him) Mercy is tight-lipped about his past, mostly because he remembers very little of it. His earliest memory is extremely hazy, but he recalls seeing and feeling the searing heat from large flames, as well as the sound of faint screaming and the taste of ash on his tongue. Beyond that, he remembers wondering the forest aimlessly for an uncertain amount of time, blind, hungry, afraid, and weak as he roamed. Then, he was taken in by what he believes to be an ancient spirit of the forest. All he knows is that the beast was large, covered in fur, and its head was made of bone and antlers, and it did not speak. He remembers being taught to read and write without his eyes. The beast taught him to navigate the world through more than vision. He remembers the sweet taste of peaches and his first winter without his sight. Unfortunately, most of these memories are hazy. All he knows for sure is that whatever that beast was, it cared for him and taught him to live in a world shrouded in darkness. Now, Mercy will often wander back into the forest that surrounds the city just so he can sit and talk to anything that will listen, even if it is only a breeze that takes in his words.

Personality

Overall, Mercy is a very bubbly and upbeat individual. He's kind and goes out of his way to help others or cheer them up when they are down. He always has a very soft smile planted on the delicate features of his face. Most would describe him as sweet and kind. Fear doesn't seem to be a part of his character in the slightest. Curiosity seems to replace that natural fear instinct for him entirely. He can be a chatterbox if you let him, but often eludes questions pertaining to his past or the story behind his blindness. He can get angry or annoyed, but it is incredibly rare for him. When he is feeling either of these emotions his smile drops into an expression of disinterest and / or boredom. His tone of voice will also go monotone with an underlying sense of warning to whomever he is speaking to.

Extras

Mercy sells his peaches in the town square where many other merchants sell their own various goods. Mercy usually loads his wooden cart with 20 wicker baskets that each hold 10 peaches. He sells one whole basket for 10 gold pieces, 5 peaches and under cost 1 silver piece per peach and 6 peaches and over cost 1 gold piece per peach. Mercy usually sells his peaches in the afternoon on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. If he happens to miss any of those days for whatever reason, he makes up for it by going to the market on a Sunday or Thursday. Mercy perfers to be paid in coin but isn't apposed to trading.

Other

He isn't opposed to romantic relationships, but they aren't exactly his priority. That being said, he is gay. Mercy's pronouns are he/him.
