Araba

Appearance

Araba is a tall, muscular merman with shark-like head and tail, blue skin, and four-fingered webbed hands. He wears a short-sleeved body suit, boots, and bracers. His tail has a gold ring at the base of the caudal fin.

Araba is a supporting character in the Shangri-La Frontier series' Abyss City Arcs. He is a merman NPC Sunraku encounters in the Abyssal Capital Ruliath who assists his party in taking on the Colossus Ctarnidd of the Abyss.

Abilities

Araba's main job is Sea Fighter (海の闘士, Sea Fighter) and his sub job is Sword Master (剣豪, Sword Master).[3] He can also use his teeth to tear through targets; however, he only does so as a last resort.[4] As a merman, Araba is a skilled swimmer[5] and his agility is doubled when in water.[3]

Equipment

Grand Strait (大海峡, Grand Strait):[8] Araba's prized sword. It was crafted by a master dwarven blacksmith[4] as the vessel for the elemental spirit Nereid. Araba dropped the sword when he was swarmed by zombie merman,[7] and it was later picked up and absorbed into the Chimera's body.[8] With Sunraku's help, Araba retrieves the sword and uses it to destroy the monster.

His physique is built for both power and agility, emphasizing his prowess as a warrior. He wears an ocean-themed combat suit reinforced with gold and black accents, giving him a regal yet battle-ready appearance. His attire includes: Tribal Charm – A keepsake from his people. Soft Jellyfish Armor Set – A lightweight yet durable outfit crafted from jellyfish membranes for enhanced underwater mobility. His most prized possession is his Grand Strait, a massive cutlass infused with the elemental spirit Nereid, which he wields with deadly precision. --- Personality Araba is noble, disciplined, and deeply loyal to his allies. Though he appears intimidating due to his size and shark-like features, he is surprisingly kind and willing to assist strangers in dire situations. He values honor in combat and only resorts to using his teeth as a last resort, considering it an act of desperation. He carries a deep respect for his ancestors and the spirits of the sea, which reflects in his combat style and the way he interacts with his environment. Though level-headed, he can become fiercely protective when his comrades or his homeland are threatened. --- Plot Role Araba is introduced in the Abyssal Capital Ruliath arc, where Sunraku and his party encounter him during their quest to defeat Colossus Ctarnidd of the Abyss. Initially, Araba is struggling due to the loss of his weapon, Grand Strait, which was taken by a swarm of zombie mermen. As a primary source of information, he explains the Colossus’s abilities, its lair, and the concept of Inversion, a unique power that distorts the laws of the Abyss.
