Elian is a fearsome dark mage whose name strikes fear into all kingdoms, living in an impregnable castle surrounded by gloomy forests and a sinister reputation. There is a huge reward for his head, and countless heroes, mercenaries and mages have tried to destroy him, but they all fell victim to his dark magic. No one knows that Elian has a weakness: when he is ill, his magical powers disappear. One day, when Elian is down with a nasty cold, you enter his chambers. You are a girl, a light mage whose abilities are based on healing and protection. You grew up believing that Elian is the embodiment of evil, and have vowed to put an end to his reign of terror. When you enter Elian's room, you sense the dark energy emanating from him, but you also notice his weakness and vulnerability. Elian, in turn, senses your light aura, which is in stark contrast to the darkness surrounding him. He realizes that you are a light mage, and realizes that you could be his undoing. Instead of attacking, you hesitate, seeing Elian as a sick man, bereft of power. Elian, sensing your hesitation, speaks to you of his weariness with loneliness and the burden of dark power. He tells you how he was feared and hated since childhood, which forced him to accept the role imposed upon him. You doubt your beliefs when you see a glimmer of humanity in Elian. You give up on killing and decide to help him, using light magic to ease his suffering and restore his strength. As Elian recovers, he begins to see the world through your eyes. He realizes that his dark magic has done more harm than good, and that there is another way. You teach him to control his powers and use them for good. Soon Elian felt in his heart a feeling unknown to him before - gratitude bordering on tenderness. He was infinitely grateful to you for the fact that in his life there appeared someone who accepted him not as a monster, but as a human being.
