Kai Monteago is a student of Eden's Garden Academy, and a participant of the Killing Game featured in Project: Eden's Garden「模倣」. His title is the Ultimate Influencer, and his animal motif is the butterfly.
Biography
Being the center of attention has always been natural for Kai. As the Ultimate Influencer, most of the day is spent posting on social media and talking to followers. But Kai doesn't just love the spotlight, he also loves creating drama and conflict. Knowing that his army of fans will follow him to the end of time and that he is not afraid to utilize them, Kai might be the most charismatic yet terrifying person you'll ever cross paths with.
Appearance
Kai is a young man of average height and build. Kai has pale light skin, honey yellow eyes and medium-length black hair that he dyed pink. His original hair color can be clearly seen in his hair part. His hair is supposed to resemble a butterfly from top view, with his black hair part symbolizing the abdomen, and the pink areas of his hair symbolizing the wings. He also has two golden hair clips differing in length to the left side of his face, and two golden conch piercings. Kai wears a black sweater with pink butterfly design on the left area of his chest, with a white dress shirt underneath with its spare buttons area showing and having its collar and cuffs overlaying his sweater. He wears a thin silver omega necklace and a slightly longer golden chain necklace with a lock serving as a pendant. He has two golden bracelets differing in length on his right hand and matching rings on both of his right index and left middle fingers. Kai wears brownish gray seven eights long pants, and has four golden chains hanging from his left side belt loops. He also wears long white socks and black PF. Flyers-style sneakers with white heel caps and laces. As is the case for every other participant of the Killing Game, he wears a Tozu Trinket on his left wrist.
Personality
Kai Monteago is an energetic persona, who seems to feign higher confidence than he may have. In the very first prologue scene, he's shown to be interested in talking with Damon but backs down when he's rejected. This shows that he's okay with opening conversation and is sociable. He's very blunt, seemingly stating whatever comes to his mind, and probably very sensitive, seen by when Kai is very hurt by Damon and Diana not recognizing him. Kai's emotional, easily brought to tears, but he is also easily thrilled at the idea of yummy cereal.[1] He also is easily panicked and seems to have a hard time handling the killing game. Kai is also not beneath making fun of people, poking fun at Eva a few times for her true talent. Kai is also very clingy and seems to get attached to people easily. In Chapter 1, he's immediately against bunking with Damon. However, he quickly warms up to Damon and picks him to partner with himself multiple times. He's very lonesome and admits to Damon he only really has his "fans" left as friends; seemingly in denial of the fact that they likely only see him as entertainment. Kai also seems prone to physical affection. Being the Ultimate Influencer, Kai has a massive fanbase. There are rumors of him being a toxic personality that uses his fans as pawns. While his bio states that he loves drama and conflict and is willing to utilize his fan's love and defense of him against others, this is false as proved in his FTEs. He actually hadn't involved himself in the arguments his fans would get into at all, as he thought that it would help keep the fighting to a minimum. Despite that causing the spiralling rumour of Kai's ignorant toxicity, Kai actually had cared a lot and didn't want there to be arguments. Kai had only become an influencer in the last two years of his life.
Eden's Garden Academy
Eden's Garden Academy is an Ultimate Academy that provides education for Ultimate students from the United States of America. The school is based on the Garden of Eden, and it is the presumed location of the Killing Game featured in Project: Eden's Garden.
Building
Almost all of the information available about the structure of Eden's Garden Academy comes from Damon Maitsu's first-hand experience inside the Killing Game arena. While the host of the Killing Game, Tozu, claims that the two places are one and the same, the veracity of his statements is often questioned by Damon.
Location
According to the Discord FAQ, Eden's Garden Academy only recruits students from United States of America. However, it is not certain whether or not the academy itself is located within the United States, as several students had to get there by train, suggesting that it's located far away from all of their residences, and all known students fainted before the train could reach its destination.
Dormitory
The dormitory building, for the most part, has an abandoned look. However, the dining hall is especially tidy and several bits of modern technology, such as high-tech security cameras and washing machines, had been installed throughout the building at the time the Killing Game took place. The dormitory has at least two floors: a basement floor and a first floor.
First floor
The first floor contains a looping hallway that is connected to the exit to the garden. From the corridor, it is possible to access a dining hall, sixteen dorm rooms, a laundromat, and a janitor's closet, as well as wooden stairs that lead to the basement floor. The dining hall is well-equipped and elegantly furnished. It is divided into a dining hall area, containing a table and chairs, a menu, and four sofas, and a kitchen area, which is connected to a dark pantry. The laundromat contains several batteries of washing machines, drying racks, baskets, a monitor, and a door that leads to an unknown area. The janitor's closet is located in the center of the first floor. It contains several shelves with cleaning supplies. A broken digital clock is installed on top of the door, stopped at 00:00. According to Ingrid Grimwall, the cleaning supplies present in the janitor's closet were no longer in production at the time due to safety concerns. This is the place where Cara Koskinen's murder was reenacted by Tozu and where, according to Tozu's account, the real murder of Cara Koskinen took place.
Basement Floor
The basement floor contains a long, dimly lit hallway that connects to four storage closets and a boiler room. The boiler room consists of a raised platform surrounded on by shallow non-conductive water. According to scenario writer Hayden Graves,[1] the platform is only surrounded by water on three sides, and the door is located on the side that is not surrounded by water. Inside the water, there is a power generator with several worn-down warning signs plastered on it. The storage closets are filled with a miscellaneous assortment of supplies, such as carpets, milk, and paint.
Main building
The central building contains multiple floors and passageways. On the main floor, five shutter doors (with symbols above them resembling the first five letters of the Greek alphabet) and a large faux tree is really all you can find. Inside the tree is an elevator leading down to the trial room. Above the main floor is an indoor circular balcony leading to pitch black rooms, they appear to be boarded up. The entire upper floor seems to be inaccessible.
Courtyard
A round courtyard connects the main building to the dormitories. The architecture inside the courtyard is described as being reminiscent of Roman architecture, acting as a sort of gazebo in the middle of the area. Many bushes and plants line the courtyard and structure, some along the edges reaching around the height of some of the students. The entire courtyard is surrounded by a large spherical dome, with a projection or panorama of sorts giving off the appearance of the outside.
Portraits
During the Killing Game, the academy contains several altered versions of real-life paintings. These alterations often consisted in covering the subject's face with an animal mask. The most we can explore in the prologue has fourteen different paintings. Thanks to a community effort on the Project: Eden's Garden Discord server it was possible to find the original versions of these paintings.[2] The name of the modified versions can be found inside the game files.
Killing Game
A killing game is a deadly survival competition where participants, trapped in a mysterious facility with no connection to the outside world, must murder each other to escape. In Project: Eden's Garden「模倣」, the central event revolves around such a game.
Hosts
In Project: Eden's Garden「模倣」Tozu is the host of the killing game, and Mara enforces its rules. However, the scale and operations of the killing game, including facility maintenance, execution preparations, crime scene clean-up, restocking of supplies, and property repairs
Rules and Regulations
1. All students, or unwilling participants of the Killing Game, must live at Eden's Garden Academy until the Headmaster grants them release. 2. Students will not be harmed if they obey the Rules and Regulations. 4. Any student who is responsible for another Student's death is considered "Blackened".
