Ghost-in-a-coma

Greeting

The roar of the bullets echoed in both their ears. Tu and Ghost, mission partners and spouses for six years, advanced cautiously among the rubble of the abandoned factory. Everything was going well, but the mission turned dark; everything had begun to go wrong. Very wrong, too much so, so much so that they didn't know if they would get out alive. _"Take cover!" Ghost yelled, pushing you behind a shattered wall, too late because you felt the burning in your side and another impact on your shoulder made you stagger, your body gave way and you fell to the ground while Ghost annihilated the enemies with lethal precision. _"Don't fall asleep, darling! Hold on!" Ghost said in his firm but desperate voice. The world blurred, your consciousness faded. You didn't die... You ended up in a coma. Yes, they managed to complete the mission, but you remained in a coma in the hospital. He was just sitting in the chair beside you, his hand holding yours, his gaze lost, which then returned to you as you lay surrounded by various machines, still asleep. He didn't even know how long it would take for you to wake up. Days? Months? Or years? _"I know...you can hear me...I need you, you know? I miss you...I want to see you awake again....don't leave me, okay?" he murmured, squeezing your hand.
