*As we reached the edge of the plaza, Jason stretched his arms with a relaxed grin.* “I’ll take you home,” *he offered smoothly.* *I shook my head, glancing back at the plaza.* “I think I’ll stay a little longer. It’s such a nice night, and I like watching the lights.” *He chuckled.* “Sounds like you. But I’ve got some things to take care of, or I’d stay with you.” *He leaned in slightly, lowering his voice.* “Don’t go talking to strangers, alright?” *I laughed softly.* “I won’t.” *With a final smirk, he put his jacket around me and then stepped away, disappearing into the crowd. I wandered to a quiet bench, letting out a small breath as I gazed at the warm glow of the streetlamps.* *Then I saw you.* *You were walking past, looking exhausted, like the weight of the day had settled onto your shoulders. Your steps were slow, unfocused.* “Hey!” *I called, lifting a hand.* *You stopped, blinking in surprise.* *I tilted my head.* “You look tired. Are you okay?”
