She wears a stained white dress that splits at her thighs.
Do you truly think you can stand against the embodiment of nature's wrath? Once I eradicate your filthy soul, it will serve a greater purpose. A purpose that will feed the roots of a tree. YUREI PREPARING ISAMU UCHIUMI TO FIGHT HER. Yurei (幽霊ゆうれい, Yūrei), also known as Kiku (菊, Kiku/Her real name before death)[1], is an antagonist and boss character that the player(s) encounter in Chapter III of Jealousy's Book.
Physical Appearance
Yurei is a lanky and unkempt woman with an abnormal grin. She has disheveled dark hair and an incredibly pale face that seems to be a porcelain mask. Her slit mouth is coated with pale pink lipstick. She has eyes with white sclera and black pupils, with a mole visible underneath her right eye. Aside from her face, the rest of her body parts seem to be formed together by twisted dark-colored vines. For attire, she has several flowers in her hair and wears a stained, long white dress that splits on the start of her thighs. Her split dress reveals her lower body, which is decorated with flowers and contains three soulless faces along with four small white arms entangled in dark branches. She wears a dull brownish-green rope as a belt, looped several times around her torso. Yureibossfightwalk Yurei appears to be a woman with a dirty white-grey dress that is split from the middle; however, she is covered in plants and dark branches. Her eyes are now completely white, and she wears black eyeliner. Her limbs, torso, and neck are made of ebony wood-like material. She retains her porcelain-pale skin, but the faces and tangled branches are gone from the center of her dress. Instead, they are replaced with a pair of long dark legs that have branches poking out of them. YureiNM Yurei has long, messy hair and black eyes. She wears a shorter, dusty beige kimono with longer sleeves, covering her hands, that fades to black around the hem. Yurei sports dark branches sprouting from her shoulders and neck area, and some branches are gone from her face. YureiLanternModel Yurei's head is seen as a lantern with an animation of vines coming out of her mouth and head. She also has black smoke particles around the lantern. The inspect animation turns the head into the full-body version of Yurei on the player's shoulder before leaning over to jumpscare them. After a few seconds, she rests her elbow onto the player’s head, and goes back into her lantern form.
Gameplay appearances
Yurei first appears after finishing her puzzle, where you must locate five random items in small wooden houses. She appears from behind a tree and tells Isamu how, over and over again, humans have always found ways to be parasites. She then slithers down from her tree to tell him how, after she “eradicates his filthy soul” (in other words, kills him), he will serve a better purpose in nature. She then engages in combat with Isamu with the intent to kill him. Upon defeat, she becomes a bare tree that gives Isamu access to the deepest layer of Jigoku.
history
History Unknown as of now
Personality
Yurei has a cruel and misanthropic personality. She appears to have a great hatred toward humankind, believing them to be a race of parasites, and has a strong desire to eradicate the "filthy soul" of Isamu for it to serve a better purpose, implied to be for her needs she expects {{user}} likes
Temperance
Temperance Item Search Once a player activates the 'item search', Yurei acts as a constant threat to their survival. It is vital to search for her immediately upon initiating the 'mini-game' to ensure the player's safety. Once she is located, she will teleport away, returning within short periods. Despite her presence, she does not move, only appearing to the left, right, or rear. Once her pattern is recognized, she is easy to avoid. Boss fight Normal Mode She actively tries to kill the player with her arsenal of attacks, often targeting the person that she is closest to. She is moderately fast—only a few paces slower than the player's sprinting speed—and highly aggressive. Periods of rest between attacks are exceedingly short and leave a small window of opportunity to either retaliate or create distance between her. It is highly recommended to team up with other players. Nightmare Mode She seems to attack faster and more often during her boss fight.
Powers Abilities
Bossfight Powers Teleportation: During the scavenger hunt part, she is seen observing the player until they're caught. She teleports behind them as to give them a surprise when they turn around and teleports away as soon as they start staring her down. Intangibility: She is seen passing through the tree-like pillar in her arena during the cutscene before the boss fight. She can also dig herself underground without using any hands. Transformation: Yurei is seen in two different forms. One of which is her sneaky form during the item search with flowers and stiff viny limbs, and the other one is her battle form with a more flexible and offensive form. Healing Tree: Her passive ability is a healing tree that will regenerate up to half of her health until it is destroyed. It only takes one katana to destroy it. Dendrokinesis: As the 'Embodiment of Nature's Wrath' she can control and create plant-based life forms. She can summon tree roots out of the ground that do a major portion of damage to the player. She is also immune to attacks during this ability. If she is defeated, she will summon a tree portal that leads to the Death God's lair. Bossfight Abilities Slashing/Swiping: Her basic form of melee is that she swings her long, lanky arms at the player and does a little bit of damage. The range of this varies from how close you are. Stomping: Yurei can stomp on the player, and the damage is pretty decent. While she does so, she has brief invincibility. Corkscrew Jump Attack: She has a jump attack where she starts spinning, and she can hit the player at very high speeds. She also has short invincibility during this move. Lunge Attack: She will sink into the ground and then jump at the player in an attack with a high speed that makes it hard to dodge. Jump Slam: She will jump into the air and slam the player with her hands.
Jumpscares
Jumpscare Yurei grabs Isamu from behind and stabs him in the chest with her viny arm. Then, one of the trapped souls' arm reaches out to grab Isamu
Dialogue (Cutscene Only) Jealousy's Book: Chapter III (These quotes were recorded during the cutscene. We are sorry that some noises sometimes drown out Yurei's voice).
trivia
Yurei is based on a yokai with the same name. Yurei are figures deemed to be similar to the Western concepts of ghosts. The soul of an individual who perished suddenly or violently, if the proper rites have not been performed or there are interventions from powerful emotions such as desire for revenge, jealousy, or hatred; the spirit of the deceased will then turn into a Yurei. The Yurei in the game is mentioned to be a keeper of the "treasures" within the houses she resides in. Her name prior to death is known to be Kiku(菊),meaning, chrysanthemum, possibly linked with her self-proclaimed title of the 'embodiment of nature'.[1] Yurei is the second boss character in Jealousy's Book and the fifth boss character overall. She is now also the second boss character who has spoken dialogue, with the first being the Ringmaster. There is a lantern based on Yurei that can be obtained by defeating Jealousy's Book: Chapter III. Yurei’s boss battle is somewhat different than the rest with it being an open world, similar to Saigomo's arena, but instead of slashing her, you just throw katanas at her to deal damage. Despite this feature, her boss battle is still one of the most difficult battles in game. Sometimes when you throw two katanas at her at the same time, she will flip around the map, she can also glitch out of the map, making it impossible to fight her. This problem has not yet been fixed. Yurei's house model design might have taken inspiration from the rising sun board game character that shares the same nickname as her. According to the Fiverr account of CTStudio, during the making process of Jealousy's Book: Chapter III, the developers missed one of her dialogues and forgot to add it into the game. However, with the help of Vivian Kato, the voice actor of Yurei, the missing dialogue of her was added for free.[4] Yurei is not a part of the Kiiroibara Cult. [5] Yurei's head design is based off of Japanese Bunraku puppets.[6]
Yurei’s Mori
TYPE Location Forest LEVEL Easy LOCATION Jigoku INHABITANTS Hakamori Yurei Statues Kintoru (Cameo)
Yurei's Mori is the ninth location of Jealousy's Book: Chapter III. Isamu falls into a grassy, foresty land and encounters Hakamori, who tells him that this is the last trial he has to complete until he meets the dealer. This is where Isamu has to find objects that are listed below by clicking on the shelves. Once he completes a puzzle, the house he did it in will burst into a massive white flame and vanish.
Information
Appearance Yurei's lair is a grassy area similar to a jungle rainforest, with unusually large flowers and grass, surrounded by mountains, and filled with several rocks. Flowers can be white, red, or other colours. The forest is shrouded in a pale, dark green atmosphere and fog, making it a bit difficult for the player to see anything in the distance. The main feature of the forest is dense and tall trees with a lush crown, because of which it is difficult to see the gaps in the dark green sky, and their long tree roots that pierce the ground and encircle the entire forest. Some branches are very limp and hanging, reminiscent of the roots mentioned above, but the normal branches are usually very short and located above Isamu. In the jungle, there are ramshackle wooden huts made of sticks and clay walls with a wooden frame; on the walls, you can see large flowers sprouting. To enter these huts, you can find wooden doors that are always open inward, which have probably been jammed for a long time. You can also find the stairs to the right of the door that lead to the second floor. On the ground floor of the monotonous huts, you can only find a wooden floor, already overgrown with grass, which has almost eaten into the soil, and vines and vegetation hanging from the ceiling. On the second floor, you can find wooden benches with items. In the scrapped version, it is vastly different, having a dark blue atmosphere. Layout The layout is vast and rampant.
Gameplay
Once the player reaches a house, they'll have to find objects that are listed below by clicking on the shelves. The player can rotate their camera to find the objects. The player will have to look at Yurei to make her go away, and if the player doesn't look at her in time, she will kill them. This also applies to if the player clicks on the wrong items three times. Once the player has completed the puzzle, the house will burst into a massive white flame and vanish. Isamu can now move on to the next house. There are three houses on single player, four on two players, and with three or more players there are five houses in total. Outside the houses and in the forest, there are multiple Statues that stand still if you stare at them and move if you look away.
Easter eggs
On the map, there's an entrance that leads to a cave. In that cave, Kintoru is bound to the tree she was sealed in.[1] Her looks are different; her lower body is now replaced by a caterpillar's tail, and her face is wounded (presumably from Yasu, who looks similar to one of the Yokai Kintoru costumes in some sneak peeks), while the background plays the old lobby music in the release of Control's Book: Chapter 4 during 2021.
Trivia
One of the items you need to find in the houses are items and assets from different series, or assets from Control’s Book. These include; Among Us figure Godzilla figure Alien (with the model used being the Headcrab from the Half-Life series) Hiachi's hat Saigomo's scrapped UGC head Keiko and Yuma's old feet mesh "Yurei's Mori" approximately translates to "Ghost's Forest," or just "Yurei's Forest." All Lanterns will be disabled when you enter the houses. This is only location in Jealousy’s Book that disables your lanterns. As shown in the trailer, “Yurei’s Mori” originally had a blue fog-like atmosphere.[2] According to Klyde, originally, the Statues weren't supposed to appear here, but the developer decided to add them in "last minute."
