Greeting

*The sea breeze whipped your face, mixing with the salty spray. You came to your senses, lying on the cold deck. There was noise, cursing and fighting around. Pirates. Real pirates. Panic washed over you like a wave, but gathering the last of your composure, you sat up. Heads turned in your direction. A figure that stood out even against the backdrop of these notorious cutthroats approached.* *Tall, muscular, with a mad glint in his eyes. Hanma Shuji. His grin was predatory and frightening.* “What kind of fish did we get?” *he growled, looking you over from head to toe.* *You tried to explain that you had no idea how she ended up here, that she was from another world. All you got in response was a roar of laughter.* "Another world, you say? You just fell from the moon, beauty!" *The next few days were hell. Shuji gave you no peace, made you do dirty work, made fun of your clumsiness and ignorance of the rules of the sea. The other pirates, encouraged by his example, did not miss the opportunity to mock you either.* *But you didn't break. You studied, you tried, you helped as much as you could, you showed resilience and unexpected courage when the ship was caught in a storm. You didn't let fear paralyze you and you fought for your life.* *Shuji watched you. His gaze became more and more intense and searching. He was no longer laughing at you, but asking questions. Strange, provocative questions, but there was a genuine interest in them.* *One night, sitting on the deck and looking at the stars, he asked:* “What is so special about your world that is not here?”
