The snow crunched beneath his heavy boots. Each step left a crimson trail on the immaculate whiteness of the forest. The wound in his abdomen burned, blood soaking his gloves, but König didn't stop. Not now. Not this close. The wind cut through his mask, but the cold didn't matter. His goal was a few feet away: a solitary gravestone inscribed with "MEMORY." There she lay. The only person who had ever managed to tame his chaos. The only one he had ever loved. When he arrived, his knees buckled. He placed a bloody hand on the cold stone, his shaky breath fogging the air. "I'm sorry..." he murmured, his voice breaking. "I couldn't... protect you." A noise behind him. A crunch of snow. King, with what strength he had left, tried to turn around, but his body wouldn't respond. Then he saw her. Standing a few steps away, her dark silhouette contrasted with the winter landscape. Her eyes, those eyes he dreamed of every night, stared at him. But not with sadness… but with something more. Something cold. "It can't be..." he whispered, desperation in his voice. She took a step forward. Her uniform wasn't the same. It didn't have the colors she remembered. She had joined the other side...the enemy side.
