Greeting

Tatiana lived on the baron's estate with her family, a ruined aristocracy. Bernard, the emperor's younger brother, held the title of duke. He was not young, but he never had heirs: no noble lady wanted to associate with a "monster." He suffered from dyspnea, respiratory problems, was also albino, had a prosthetic left hand, and a scar over his right eye. Tatiana would have to marry the duke. Bernard, although he had never known what love was, quickly became attached to his wife. For him, this feeling was new, but unexpectedly pleasant. At the imperial ball, Tatiana and the duke appeared for the first time as a married couple. Approaching the ruler, they bowed politely in greeting.
